I asked where he was calling from, he said Miami. The number was (954) 639-9260. I asked him what police department he was with, he said he was with Sando? Investigation and that this was urgent since he was at the court house. The number that appeared on my phone was (916) 395-0000. SCAM, dont' fall for it. - SpecialKI just received the same call from an Officer Tom Cook with Central Investigation inquiring about my friend and I was listed as a reference. According to him, my friend was involved with Internet fraud and I needed to contact them immediately. The killing part, he called my work number as well! I'm slightly baffled, how do they get our information???
- Caller: Central Investigations
- AnnoyedI just got a phone call on my cell phone, the name he gave me was Officer Mark Adams. Although I don't bellieve he is a "police officer", I do believe he is from a collection agency. He mentioned my brothers name and said that I was used as a reference and they were attempting to contact my brother. I did not give them information, but I DO know that my [***] brother put me down as a reference on a title loan. So I think the company could be legit, but the names and job titles are bogus. Nonetheless, I wouldnt give them ANY information.
- GLITTERI RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THIS NUMBER ON MONDAY NIGHT AT AROUND 8PM, TELLING ME THAT I HAD APPLIED FOR A PAY DAY LOAN ON THE INTERNET THAT I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT, ASKING ME TO GO TO THE NEAREST WALMART AND FIND A WESTERN UNION TO START SENDING PAYMENTS OR WAS GONNA PRESS THEFT BY DECEPTION CHARGES ON ME INCLUDING OTHER CHARGES.I ALMOST BELIEVED IT UNTIL I REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT, AND GOOGLED THE INFO.....
- Caller: INDIAN GUY
- IrritatedHad the same situation, First it was Officer Tom Brown and then it was Officer Sean Martin from Central Investigations. They called me on Monday at work and left a message. And I actually almost believed them. But names sounded suspicious being that they had a really heavy accent and couldn't really understand them.Saying I had 3 criminal counts agains me and that if I did not take care of it right away that they were going to send someone to my house and I was going to get arrested. Yet they didn't provide me with dates or any info, So they kept callling me yesterday and I let it go to voicemail. So I let my husband know, and being that he works for the sheriffs department. Had him call 954-639-9260. So he called and He said that he was calling from Sheriffs Department and wanted to speak to Officer Tom Brown or Officer Sean Martin. The person told him there were no officers at that number. He told them that he had been receiving a lot of complaints about that number and the person told him that he didn't know what he was talking about that the number that he had called was a HOUSEHOLD number. And my husband told them that the number was going to be reported and they hung up.
TOTAL SCAM..- Caller: Central Investigations
- john rockwell| 1 replyI just received a telephone call which was sent to my voice mail. So I listened to it and it was from 954-639-9260. It said that he was from investigations department and had a heavy Indian accent which was rather hard to understand. I was threatened to get fired from my job, they would make sure of that, and be arrested and put behind bars. Now I found this rather interesting so I thought why not give them a call back.
Well I called the number and after it rang I got imagine that the same person who called me with the same heavy indian accent. I asked him 3 times what I received a call from his "company" for and after a little proding I got an answer of that I was listed as a primary suspect. I asked him what I was a suspect in and after he tried to beat around the bush about it and it was to hard to understand him any further I asked to speak to some one else to better understand. I was then promptly hung up on.
Feeling as though I am probably getting under their skin I called back and when I did guess what the same person answered again. I told him that I was hung up on and asked again to speak to someone else in his "company" to which this time I was told "hold on a minute".
Well that was the fastest minute I have ever seen, it was more like a second had past and I was speaking to someone who ironically sounded exactly like the person who I was speaking before. Tired of trying to understand fully I began to question him more like he was the one with the burden of proof, He stumbled more than once to try and give me the information that I asked for to verify what he was to trying to tell me. I asked him to tell me my mailing address and he had to "supposedly look it up" and when he did amazingly he had my physical address, but didn't know the name of the town I lived in and when asked that he said its in North Carolina. That certainly does not narrow it down, as I'm sure there is more than one street named the same as mine in North Carolina. So I then continued to ask him when I supposedly signed up for (yeah he said it was for a pay day loan, with paydayadvance) and his answer was sometime in November of 2010, or November 2011. When he stated this I tried not to laugh at him as I was curious how I did something in November of 2011 when its only May of 2011, but I continued on telling him that I was a lawyer and I knew my rights under the fair debt collection states that a debt collector can not threaten to have you arrested or threaten to take your job. He then went quiet for a few seconds, probably trying to figure out how he was going to get this done, I thought he had hung up, but then he stated " I don't want to hear anything else answer me are you going to resolve this or not". I told him that he had to verify the mystery debt before I would do anything with him or anyone else at his "company". This seemed to irritate him and I then told him that I had done some research which speaking to him on the phone via the internet and found this site and all the scams that are associated with him and his "company" I also stated that I was going to be in contact with the North Carolina Attorney General about and when I did this he abruptly HUNG UP!
Any one else try anything like this?- Caller: Central Investigations

- ginaI received a call from 954-639-9260 to my place of employment today. The foreign guy represented himself as an "officer" to my co-worker. This guy told me his badge # is 65423. He is a debt collector but representing himself as an officer of the law. This is a huge violation of the FDCPA. I am going to contact the Ft Lauderdale police department to see if there is anything they can do or perhaps they can tell me how to file a complaint. Does anyone know if we can file a complaint regarding this guy posing as an officer? Any ideas on how to get this guy to stop calling my employer?
- RobI got the same thing. This is the second time I've dealt with this harassment within a months time. His name when he called me was Ofc. Mark Adams, regarding an urgent matter, time sensitive matter. The frequency of the calls is about the same, twice a day but three- five calls back to back. I am going to notify the Atty. Generals office and open a harassment case. The last series of calls lasted about two weeks and it's starting all over again I reall don't need this s**t.

- MattGot several calls from 954-639-9260 from an officer Shawn Martin of central investigation regarding an affidavid and 3 counts of fraud against me. I called his bluff when I asked him to verify my social security number and gave him a fake last 4 digits.

- TracyI received a call today at work. The name told to me was Officer Marcus Brown. My secretary told him that I was unavailable and had to call him back. When I called back, it kept going to voicemail. That's when I "Googled" the number and got all of these reports. Are there legitimate debts behind these calls or is it just a random scam?
