- Unhappy new phone activater| 2 repliesBrand new phone, brand new number, activated less than 3 hours ago and have already received 3 calls from this number for someone I have never heard of!!! How many times do I have to answer it and tell them to go away!!

- not Michael replies to Unhappy new phone activater| 1 replyThere's no such thing as a new number. Between land line phones, cell phones, and fax machines the US has a shortage of phone numbers. Your new number belonged to someone else, possibly as recently as 3 weeks ago. You are getting calls that were aiming for the previous owner of that number.
- GIGIMy vehicle was sold over 2 weeks ago. I have explained to Capital One that I no longer own the vehicle and who they will be getting the pay off from. It doesn't matter to them as I owe the money, I need to pay the bill , etc... Very Rude, Doesn't speak English very well (wonder why) I will never finance another vehicle with this company because their customer service SUCKS

- Adel916 replies to CraigThey call you to verify your information as well as to see when you want your payments due (middle of the month or beginning/end of the month). I think it's due to all the fraud going around so they want to verify that you are really the one that bought the car.
- CPI just took out a loan with Capital One Auto Finance and my first payment isn't even due for 2 more weeks yet I am receiving dozens of calls per week from them. I've tried calling two different toll-free numbers, as well as calling and writing to their Corporate HQ in McLean, VA, but cannot get the harrassment to stop. They claim the calls are "welcome" calls, but I don't need to be "welcomed"! If anyone has had success in getting these idiots off your back, please post and let me know how so I can stop getting ~ 4-6 partial messages on my cell phone each day.

- PO'd with a new phone #What does it take to get collection agencies to remove incorrect phone numbers or addresses. I just got this phone 2 weeks ago, had 3 calls already from them. There needs to be an established Government method to tell these folks to not call that is immediately enforceable. Numbers change, especially cell #'s on contract systems. There needs to be a way to get credit bureaus to fix bad #'s and addresses too that is standardized and immediate. We have been getting calls for the person at the same address but on a different street suffix because somehow it got entered wrong and now they use it to lookup our home phone, even though we have talked to them repeatedly. They need to be forced to have a tracking means to determine the source of a phone number or address so that if you want to correct it, you can follow it back. I have tried the notification route, but it should be something we don't have to pay for and should be that they confirm a number or address belongs to someone, not the other way around!
We need to start a legislative movement to FIX the credit/collection system, not have them dictate what they want!- Caller: Capital One Auto

- Miss NelsonJust purchased a car with their financing. Not by my choice but the car dealerships. My first payment is not until March 3, 2011 and I get at least 3 calls a day about payment. It's going to be a long 5 years. If it continues, I am refinancing.

- nickThey said speak good english not use good grammar, so shut your mouth, its nice to understand someone.
- je9je9I'm not even late with my payment. I was late and they agreed to put my payment at the end of the loan so we're supposedly all squared away, so now they're calling 3 or 4 times a day, but not saying anything. I'd say that is called harrassment and I'm not sure how it gets them anywhere. I'm guessing, from what people are saying, that this is Capital One.
- Caller: Capital One
- annoyedYeah, I don't even have a credit card/loan/anything affiliated with Capitol One and I'm STILL getting calls. I've never even owned a credit card....

- annoyed replies to not MichaelOkay, but what if i'm getting calls about someone else when I've had this number for 6 or 7 years now??
- BW replies to JustJenFirst off, even if these calls are legitimate, Cap One has absolutely no business contacting customers at home like this and asking those customers to "verify" personal and financial information. Absolutely not!! Cap One should send its new auto loan customers welcome letters, with Cap One's contact info so that those customers can initiate the calls to Cap One themselves. What Cap One is doing by having outsourced employees make continuous, and hounding phone calls to new customers like this merely to "verify" personal and financial info is setting those customers up for potentially being scammed by other not-so-legitimate callers. No company should ever have any legitimate need to call YOU to verify your personal and financial information, especially when that company already has (or should have) all of your info. The customer is the one who should be initiating these types of calls, NOT the financial institution. I just recently bought a new car. The dealership set up my financing with Cap One, and so far, I've received phones calls from this number every day since. I'm going to take my cell phone records into the dealership, along with a transcipt of the comments made on this website and let the dealership know exactly what kind of sleaze bag tactics Cap One uses with its customers. Hopefully, Cap One will lose my dealship's business.
- jrodwow ..... worst ever company!!! WTF a call every 30mins everyday and i just bought the car a week ago..NEVER AGAIN!
