This is a LEGITIMATE phone call! It rang & left an automated message on machine saying that Social Security Administration letter received in mail for filling out an application form for receiving extra help with paying for drugs should be returned if you qualify. Then the SSA toll free number was given (1-800-772-1213) to call if any questions.

I got the exact same message about an application for help paying for drugs, although I haven't yet received it in the mail, the US mail often is very late, lost, etc. these days, so that's no surprise. I think it is legit as I have recently signed up for Medicare although a spammer could assume that just because I am turning 65. But it isn't texting me links or anything, only a voicemail talking about the legit SS site and phone number which I can verify on my own.

My phone block this call as potential junk. The caller left a message following up on a letter and application for extra help with prescription drugs sent to me from Social Security.  The message provided an 800 number for questions or assistance (800-772-1213).

I just got the same kind of call , reminding me that I got an application for drug price help , which I think I did and to fill out app. and return or call a number for help . I googled the number and found this site .

Don't ever use google. You are feeding the beast. There are many other search sites available that don't track everything you do.

FYI social security will Not call you.  They only contact you via Mail or email unles you are dealing with a specific agent.
Register on the official social Security website.
This number called and left a voicemail asking if I had received a letter about a supplemental drug plan.  Yes I’ve been getting a Lot of junk mail because I live in a 55+ place.

It was a female voice saying she's from Social Security & that I haven't returned the forms they mailed for prescription drug help.

Report it. Probably a scam.

Ronald posted 14 years ago and was what is commonly known as a shill. There was no logical reason for him to have looked up this phone number since he alllegedly knew who called him.
If this was legitimately the Social Security Administration calling you, they would identify themselves and leave a message if you didn't answer their call. Since your caller apparently did neither, it wasn't the SSA calling.

Suspicious call from (972) 497-1400. I don't answer calls from unknown callers. Too many scammers.

Same here. Recorded message about follow up on letter for help on prescription drugs (which I have none).
