I received a call from JR Barton with Giant Operating LLC. After asking several questions to ensure that I was an accredited investor (see discussion below), they sent me a package and it contained a description of the project that they were raising money for. I spoke with Mr. Barton for almost an hour - there is no doubt that he is a paid to raise money for the projects (whether the project is legit I dont know). He is supposedly sending me contact information at Giant's law, accounting, and banking firms along with information from the Texas Attorney General, Texas Railroad Commission, and the New Mexico Energy Commission. When I asked how he got my contact info (I am the president of a small manufacturing company), he said that they bought a list of accredited investors from Dunn & Bradstreet. That story is certainly plausible. The website is www.giantoperating.com

Basically, in order to market unregistered securities in the United States, the marketing MUST be only to "accredited investors" - if you are not an accredited investor, the firm issuing the securities can face civil and criminal penalties for marketing the securities to you. I am not sure if I am going to invest, but I am not sure that it is the scam that other posts make it out to be (it certainly may be, and they are indeed an offshoot of the Giant Petroleum mentioned in the Dallas Business Journal as Mr. Barton told me they were).

Be cautious and make up your own minds.

I invested in Giant Operating over a year ago. I am very disatisfied with this operation and I am pursuing other methods of finding more info on this company before I contact my attorney. Giant's response's are not acceptable and I am very concerned that they are a scam. If you have any follow up info on your contact with them, I would appreciate a reply.

Received call from Austin Montgomery with Giant Operating phone number 972-607-4300 ext 239 in regard to a joint venture project.  We are subcontractors.  Had my doubts of how legit this call was and in checking found this site.

Got a message from John Melcus from Giant Operating about a joint venture project.  Didn't call back.

Caller identified himself as Chris with Giant Operating, asked to speak with our company president. Gave a call back number of 972-607-4300 ext. 248.

Chris called asking to speak with our president regarding a "new joint venture project".

Message was disposed of...fishing for info.

You are right in being suspicious about Giant Operating. They have some oil leases in S.E. New Mexico that are operated by another company and Giant has not been paying the operator and several of vendors who have worked on the wells. They may be running a Ponzie scheme or something like it and now because of the drop in oil prices are having trouble getting more investors to buy into their deals. I would definitely be concerned and check them out if I had money invested with them. The president of the company is named Wes Harris. I would not wait too long to check them out!!!!

Got a call from John Mekus of 'Giant Operations" for our owner.
Took a message "We have a joint venture project for him."

Received a call from 972-607-4300 and the guys name was Ross from Giant in Dallas.  Told me they wanted to talk to the General Manager for a project called Madaora Drilling in Dallas.  Wouldn't give me much information and wouldn't let me pass him on to another Engineer, which made me suspicious...  Never gave my boss the info.  Sounded like a telemarketer.

This isn't the first time these clowns have called me. I got a call from them again yesterday. Who invests in a cold call?

I recieved a call from Bill Malone @ Giant Operating with an investment opportunity on 6 oil drilling sites. When I told him I have some money saved up and would love to turn my money into some real cash I really got his attention. I said " I have $138.00 saved up in a can on top of the fridge that I would love to double." He asked me if I was indeed the company owner and I told him " you called me" " you are the one who has my name on your paper work."
  I'm not an accredited investor nor have I ever invested in anything other than a savings account. How did they get my name? Uhh, its in the phone book. What a crock and no mr. Bill Malone, I don't care for you to Fed Ex me information on this amazing investment opportunity.

Just got a call from Bill Malone of Giant Operating. He left his number and extension 214.  didn't return call

Received a call asking for my boss from an Austin Montgomery saying it was regarding a joint venture prospect. Unfortunately for him, I am on to their game & my boss will not even see this message. Just doing my job.

Was thinking of investing with Giant, but came across this while doing research.  Can you tell me where you are now in getting satisfaction from this company??  Can not afford to lose my money!!

Received a call on May 28th, 2009 from Steve Wheaton 973-607-4300 x 229 - Giant Operating wanting to speak to the President of the company stating that the President had an interest in what he may have - vague NO NO NO  NOT INTERESTED EVER

They just called here asking for the owner of our company (by name). I told them he was out of the office and offered to allow them to leave a voice mail, but silly me... I forgot to press the "voicemail" button on our phone.

Cold caller, but I vaguely remember them calling a few months back regarding this same thing.

Be wary, they may be trying to mask their Caller ID info. It only came up as "Texas" for me when I answered.

The just called us, too, only his first name in now Kirk.  He said that he had some joint venture opportunity of some sort.  After about 45 seconds of being on hold, he hung up.  Sounded like a scam!  GFY, Kirk!
