- Police DepartmentGetting the same calls, no one there, hangs up and does not say anything. Now, apparently the company of persons that keep calling were not raised correctly. I was always polite on the phone and told who I was and if I called wrong number, would appologize.
But apparently, this company or so called people are just stupid.- Caller: ???? Vonage

Unfortunately I did provide my banking information to them previously, hopefully no action will be taken. I have alert my bank on this. Now everytime they call, I just ignore it.

- JCPaxtonGot a call from this number today. Didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number. They didn't leave a message either. If it were a legit business call, I'm sure they would've left a message with a number to call back.

- downeast549Just received a call - voice sound foreign, asked what country he was trying to reach - got hung up on. Have never dealt with or called or requested anything from Vontage. After reading the other reports went ahead and contacted both the FCC & The Blocked Call Line
- downeast549Today, finally got a live voice, caller from the Philipines, stated that my phone number has been selected to win and this was Vontage calling - I hung up and dashed an email off to the AG in my state, also filed a complaint with the FCC and check the Federal "Do Not Call List" to make sure my number was on it - then, I filed a complaint with them. I hope this helps someone because there are laws that govern Telemarketers and Spammers.

- LarryJust Block or Don't Answer calls from 973-929-3293
Having done research it's discovered that initially these calls are initiated via a United states auto dialer. Then immediately switched to some remote { likely overseas center } or location where someone is awaiting to make the verbal pitch.
No matter how you look at it. Such a practice is predatory, misleadingly dishonest, disrespectful, deliberately deceptive, terrible for the economy and exactly how scams of FRAUD are launched.
My personal practice is don't answer unsolicited calls that you don't recognize. As well as NEVER give them any information. To include NEVER and I mean never EVER do business with an outfit that operates like this one.
If a product or service is good, legit and worth having. It'll be a solicitation presented in writing. Where they present you with LOTS of information for you to review, research and verify via a disinterested party. To include if they call YOU and hide THEIR contact identity. Then what are they showing you up front?,.. DECEPTION !!!
HELPFUL TIP:
When you receive the call attempt - Click to answer & IMMEDIATELY click to Hang the call up.
NOTE: You may have to click to answer & hangup Twice. Solely because the call is being transferred ON THEIR END { as I explained }. And therefore you'll be dropping the call attempt { Via Hanging up } as the transfer is being done on their end.- Caller: Unknown

- NancyThank you all
As of late last week I just started suddenly getting constant calls from this 973-929-3293 number. You make a lot of sense on how to deal with those creeps and now I know why you have to hang up on them twice { thanks Mr. Larry for explaining it }.
They'd called and I'd hung up once but the phone immediately started ringing again. That time I answered and some weird foreign woman voice was rattling on about hey, hi, hello before I hung up again. It can be an ordeal dealing with scammers and beggars using the phone as their tool of trade. So now I see that as consumers we really have to communicate if we're going to void those weirdos out.
I don't know why they called my home because personally I never had or ever wanted Vonage service. I had thought about cable phone service a while back until our son enlightened us a year or so ago. Aside from our home line and cell phones our son showed us how a little computer thing called Magicjack works.
That thing works so well that we're got two of them because they not only work. But we can take them wherever we go with a laptop to use it. And the service thing only requires a one time yearly fee of less than $30.00 dollars for the whole entire year.
So paying Vonage anything for the same thing over and over every month would be financially foolish and an unnecessary waste. Along with what cable being even worse than Vonage trying to pitch charging you every month { even twice or three times as much as Vonage }. For the same thing that a little MagicJack thing does for hundreds less is Vonage and cable phone is a offering strictly for dummies willing to give their money away to a pack of thieves.
So now I can see Vonage has to be hurting and I understand the constant pestering calls trying to sift for suckers to ripoff. To include anybody even thinking about cable phone is senselessly willing to give their money away and playing right into their highway robbery racket.
So anyways that's my 2cents and thanks to all that's shared helpful insight here. Because I surely don't want them and had no idea who the scammers even were calling from this 973-929-3293 number or how to deal with them.
Now I do and now I also know who they are, what they're trying and how to and why I have to hangup on them twice to get them off my darn phone line.
Parting message to Vonage & cable phone scams - You both Suck - deceptive, overpriced and disgusting pests when you're trying to pitch it.- Caller: 973-929-3293

- CaseyI never answer call I do not recognize. Caller ID reads, "Newark NJ." Why would I be curious or even want to answer this call? These are all scammers. The phone companies give service to anybody even if it means they are illegitimate. I dont answer these calls. I let it ring, block call, and/or hook up to my fax line.
