I need to know if this is a legitimate number as I am expecting a puppy to be delivered and this is the only number I have.  My fear is that it is a scam

My fear is that this phone number is a part of a puppy delivery scam.  How can I check this out?

Where were you expecting your puppies from? I haven't "bitten" yet, but this is the contact number the lady gave me for International Pet Transportation, which is going to be used to ship my puppies. She just emailed me this number.

I'll keep checking back for, and also if I have updates.

I traced this number to Houston Texas. That makes no sense as I am from Canada and the dogs were to be shipped from PEI to Saskatchewan. As I was googling this number, I came upon another ad in PennySaverUSA for Chihuahua puppies in Concorde,CA. Was that you, Gerry, or was yours different yet? It said the ad had expired, but I could still see most of the listing in google.

This woman "Karen Hayward" won't be getting any money from me, I'm afraid. I'll post her first response to my wife's email.

did you ever recieve the puppy? i spoke to someone from that number today, sounds similiar. I'm not trusting the situation . I have a gut feeling that it is a scam.

My girlfriend just got scammed by this Karen Hayward shipping a Maltese puppy from PEI with the same "I'm going to Finland on Friday" rubbish... and gave this # as a contact number for shipping.

Same price @ $213 or $320 for both male/female puppies.

Yeah, it's a scam. I just got off the phone with some guy I couldn't understand. The original ad said the puppy was right here in my home town. Then that changed to Freeport, Texas. Now I'm supposed to send
$320 to someone in Cameroon? Not happening! I told him when the puppy arrives safe and healthy at my house, I will pay him then.

Don't buy off Karen Hayward it is a scam! I got a call from someone asking me to send money to Cameroon, I said no because it's a scam and they asked why thought that,I said that there wasn't even a website for the company, he said it was currently under construction... Bit convenient!!!

I told them I'd pay cash on arrival if they deliver the puppy!

They used a withheld number when they called me!

This Karen Hayward seems to be based in all sorts of locations with variety of free puppies.

I once used this company and i hard my dog delivered to me as soon as i paid my money to them.

my daughter was waiting for a puppy the lady  (tinabanks99@yahoo.com) was having it shipped to her and the puppys name is tessy some guy called her this morning and wanted money before he could send the dog.i got on the phone with him and could hardly understand him and the phone was cutting in and out he said it is because PEI is having a problem with there phones. I told him that we would pay in cash when the dog was safe at our door. He said he could not do that. i ask about the company and he just told me he has a web site and i told him i can make a web site . But as soon as i said i would call the better business bureau he hung up.

How stupid are you people? You could get a purebred dog cheap from a local breed rescue group, and meet it before you adopt it, yet you send money to Nigerian scammers for fantasy dogs. Isn't the nearly illiterate email a clue? My sympathy well is low on this one.

my daughter was the one doing this but i answered the phone when the guy called i told her that i think it is a scam and she didnèt send any money.thanks but i am not stupid and i posted this so that people can see it is a scam i am not looking for any sympathy from anyone . i just hope that people see this for what it is.

Here's a scam that came in 10/28/2010.  I had placed an ad on Petfinders to find an adoptee for my shi tzu.  Here is a letter I received:

They are out there using all different names  I spoke with someone using the name Richard and another using another name!! I inquired about a Rottweiler and a Maltese, these were two seperated classified listings and to my surprise I receive the SAME letter saying they were giving the dogs away because their MUM had died!  I really believed this guy until I received an email back about the Maltese and their mother had died too and the emails were IDENTICAL!!  There are so many out there right now, I would say it is not safe to buy any dog off the internet.
