They are a scam trying to get your SSN.  Name on caller ID = Synchrony Financial.  They left a voicemail that I needed to confirm my Walmart credit application - which I never initiated.  They ask you to call 866-834-3205 with key code #WALML3HLMX.  When you do, they ask you to enter your "account number".  After no response, "If you don't have your account number, please enter your Social Security Number."  Then, after not doing so, "please hold for the next representative," and then continous, "will be with you shortly," but never pick up.  If you don't give them your SSN, they'll hope for the next sucker.  866-834-3205 also comes up as a fraud alert on searches.

I received same message as about. Phone about Walmart application which was never initiated by me so was an alarm for a scam.

Yep same VMail recieved here,  knew my Wifes name but my numbers,  smelled off so good to hear its BS

Synchrony is a real bank, but this is CLOSE to their real number, and notice the # they want you to call back is DIFFERENT.

Just received the call. Only 2 options and they request your whole social security.

Caller ID said GE Capital and did not answer. No voice mail. BS scammer.

They actually called me and told me that I tried to open this account.  When I said I never applied for it they tried to get me to verify my address, phone number and social security number.  I refused to give them my ss# and they said they were opening a fraud case.  Total scam alert..

I recently have had a charge on my Best Buy card using my SSN or zip code is what I have been told.  I reported the fraud and have been contacted by this phone no# today.  Luckily I did not pick up.

Caller indicated that an Amazon credit card application was submitted but that my credit bureau accounts were frozen.  They said the address wasn't my address and I told them my address.  Also requested the last 4 of the ssn.  Since I have three Sychrony bank cards from various gas stations, I fell for it.  I googled the phone number and saw it was a scam.  Called the credit bureau and put an alert on my SSN.  Hopefully it stops any fraud card applications.

said I had just applied for a PayPal credit card, which I have had for years, then said if I didn’t give my information they would close account. I hung up.

They Called Me and left a voice mail they called me twice and I didn’t pick up

The person said they were from Synchrony Bank calling about the check I submitted, what was my birth date to verify. It seemed weird he asked right away. I said I already spoke to someone the other day and I got the paperwork. He just kept asking for my birth date! I hung up and they never called back. Whats really scary.....how did they know about my check to the bank!!??

Called our overseas phone...not allowed, not published.  Blocked and reported them.

This number did in fact come from Synchrony doing an ID Verification for a card I had opened the day before. Synchrony bank is behind a lot of different store cards.
