Warning: There is a phone scam making the rounds again involving a legitimate contact number for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department. The scammers have been posing as employees with MCSO. They have been calling and claiming that potential victims have missed jury duty and that if they don’t pay a “fine*” they will be arrested. THIS IS A SERIOUS PHONE SCAM that has been making the rounds for the last 4 YEARS! There has been local media coverage and public awareness is KEY to stopping these scammers. It’s critical to inform the public that MCSO (let alone ANY law enforcement agency Nationwide) DOES NOT AND WILL NEVER call the public on the phone to serve an arrest warrant for any legal reason. EVER! DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE!
