This place is rediculous. They have called me constantly for nearly a year. I called back once..mistake. They claimed I owed a debt to PayPal. Don't have any PayPal debt and said it was serviced by Bill me later. When I disputed they hung up on me. Now I get the following voicemails:
"This message is intended for (Insert computer name). I am calling with the offices of ARS regarding a legal required notice that needs your immediate attention. Please call 716-351-3820 or press one to speak to a live representative"....Seeems the message left is recorded.  They also spoof their numbers with local numbers. Beware...they may be a real collection agency trying to collect on Zombie debt.

In 48 states debt collectors can legally attempt to collect debts.  In all 50 states they cannot threaten to sue or initiate a lawsuit past the Statute of Limitations which varies by state.  ARS is a known acronym for several different debt collectors, all of which use illegal collection tactics.

I have received this message from a Tampa FL area code (813) number... This is the 3rd attempt to speak to you. I am calling with the offices of ARS regarding a legally required notice that needs your immediate attention. Please call 716-351-3820 or press one to speak to a live representative...  I don't live in NY or FL. I have no debt payments. Maybe it's a joke... not everyday I get a call from an ARS man.

"This message is intended for (Insert computer name). I am calling with the offices of ARS regarding a legal required notice that needs your immediate attention. Please call 716-351-3820 or press one to speak to a live representative" this is the message I get left on my phone multiple times per day. The name they used was my previous married name, I have been divorced over 11 years now.  I made the mistake of emailing them to try to get proof of debt, maybe it was something for when I was married..I dont know... and now they have my correct name. I never gave them and other info, just told them I have not gone by my married name since my divorce 11 years ago. I believe this is a scam, they tell me to contact the police if my identity was stolen, and then they ghost me until the next robo-call.

Watch out. This place tries to collect on Zombie debt, or debt not owed,  and will harrass all times of day. They were trying to collecton a PayPal credit account I never had. I spoke with them in 7/20 and when I disputed the debt they hung up. 6 months later they started with phone calls and texts. Sometime they would call me at 5AM.They also sent a letter stating the PayPal credit account was being serviced by Bill Me Later. Strange since PayPal credit bought Bill Me Later.   I finally texted back a cease and desist.  And Surprise! Recently they sent a fraudulent 1099C which stated it was from PayPal Europe (no contact Information) for a PayPal Credit debt. Strange since synchrony is the provider for PayPal credit- not PayPal Europe. PayPal and Pay Pal Europe do not provide credit. Synchrony Bank oversees PayPal credit.  Synchrony's Fraud department is handling the 1099C issue along with PayPal. These chracters will do anything to try and make your life miserable. they even had the wrong address for paypal europe and spelled Luxembourg wrong on the 1099C. My advice...ignore these bottom feeders.

They have harassed me since January. Calling 2-3 times a day. I then blocked the number. Got to delete voicemails I have over 50 blocked voicemails all of which are solely intended for someone that isn’t even me. So I then I call the number to advice them. They are complete [***]. Tell me well that person used you as a reference. I was like wrong. Not related by any means. Not even in the same state. No need to harass me when I’m not the said caller. He then hangs up on me. So I call back. Ask for a supervisor of course he asks me well what number are we calling then? Like really? It’s obviously some kinda scam don’t fall for it.

Just got that ARS call today with a spoof #. Showed the call came from Nocona, TX. (940 340-1792. But the automated voicemail said to call (716) 351-3820 as mentioned in this feed. I know all my bills are up to date with no late payments. Even filed for CH 7 and all debt owed was Discharged back in March 2023. Definitly have no debt. lol

I am a federal law enforcement officer living in Puerto Rico since 2012, and the fake company ARS is a scam group of people who will attempt to lie and intimate you by alleging that you are obligated by law to comply with the collections. Let me be clear to the American public. I worked in the past for 5 years with a NY collections agency, and you aren't obligated by NO laws to comply, especially a fake scam collection like ARS. They called me with the +1 (716) 351-382. The worst part of all was that ARS called me at 9 pm, and each state, especially American territories, has laws that protect you from collections agencies, especially if they harassed, threatened, or intimidation aggressive tactics. Collections are required to send mail notifications to you. The collections agency buys debts on the pennies from every dollar. If a legit collection calls you, guess what? They are [***]! Because they must negotiate with you, and you hold the deck of cards against them. If the collections are repos, the banks have 5 years to collect in court or lose. Credit cards in collections are dead and aren't worth fighting in court to collect. If they are past 7 years from your last payment date, it goes out the window and off the credit reports. In less than 7 years, you got the collections by the balls because you set the rules and terms to pay what you can afford without disrupting your family obligations. Always record conversations and have them give you your personal info. Don't give them any info they dont have.

I doubt that you are a law enforcement anything, unless you're a janitor in the police station. 99% of what you wrote in that post is wrong. You should keep your mouth shut when you don't know what you're talking about instead of purposely trying to mislead people.

So they called you with a number that cannot exist in the North American Numbering Plan?

Federal law supersedes State law unless the state law is more stringent.  As such, they are allowed to call you from 8 am to 9 pm your time.  Looks like that call was actually legal to me.

    Not until after first contact.

Since that is not illegal why did you bring it up?
    Quote:
Because they must negotiate with you,
No, there is no law that requires them to negotiate with you.

How about citing your source for that?  I know that you can't.

It might go off your credit report but it doesn't go "out the window" since you actually still owe the debt.

That doesn't make any sense at all.  Where did you come up with that drivel?
    Quote:
Always record conversations and have them give you your personal info.
If it is a two party state then you have to inform them that you are recording the conversation.  Why didn't a LEO know that?
    Quote:
Don't give them any info they dont have.
They already have all your information.

Unlike you I can actually prove what I posted was correct.
