Home Solar Telemarketing Calls
- Frustrated Consumer| 4 repliesIf you are trying to identify the party behind solar telemarketing calls, my personal opinion is that you look into this company, as there is a possibility they may be responsible:
Lead Genesis Partners, LLC
8022 S. Rainbow Blvd. Suite 185
Las Vegas, NV 89139
www.leadgenesis.com
Lead Genesis provides leads to SolarCity and other companies. They are apparently a lead broker, so they pay "affiliates" to generate leads, which they then share with the solar companies, which is what I gathered from their website.
I learned about them by listening to an unsolicited telemarketing call pitching solar panels... after answering their questions, my call was transferred directly to a SolarCity sales representative.
I filed a complaint with a State agency and SolarCity ultimately reached out with an offer to settle for damages. It turns out that the actual illegal telemarketing calls are recorded. This is pretty mystifying, as it seems like they have an entire archive of evidence of illegal calls.
In my case, it appears that Lead Genesis or one of their affiliates actually placed the call to me, which was then transferred directly to SolarCity. From what I can gather, the information for a "lead" is sent directly in real time to SolarCity's Salesforce CRM system via an electronic interface. (The SolarCity lawyer even told me that the interface was built for them by a company named Flywheel Group.) It is not clear if this transmission is sent by Lead Genesis or their affiliate.
There is currently a class action lawsuit against SolarCity for these calls: 3:15-cv-05107-RS Morris v. SolarCity Corp. The filings in this case give interesting insights into SolarCity's dubious marketing practices. In their desperation for business, it seems like they partner with some very shady groups who engage in telemarketing.
By the way, these are just my personal opinions and insights and every call could be different. If you are trying to figure out who is behind any solar telemarketing calls you receive, the only way to find out is to play along until you can get in touch with an actual sales representative. - XPEAC replies to Frustrated ConsumerAll of it is true, That's how they got me. Solar City is not a bad company, it's how they approach the consumer. If the customer wants solar, we will come to you, don't come to us. I wish all companies would live by that rule, "we'll come to you, don't come or call us" But, I live in Baltimore, and Baltimore Gas and Electric is notorious for raising your bill for any kind of reason. So, I did get solar panels through Solar City, so I could finally stick it to BGE. Solar City is not a bad company, they just need to get rid of their tele-marketing scheme and find other ways to get customers. But, the funny thing is I still get calls asking if I want solar panels. Just hilarious. Yeah sure, put your solar panels over top the ones I already have. But, I'm sorry that you're getting so many calls from these people. I guess join the crowd, I get them too and I already have solar.
- Resident47| 4 repliesLead Genesis has been on my radar for a half year. Some investigative trails I've followed point there, though nothing is confirmed. A call blaster which archives its own traffic is either concerned for quality control or has arrogantly budgeted for TCPA claims as a routine expense.
- CoryThey call me at least once a month. I tell them over and over that I can't get solar even if I wanted it due to regulations.
- Peter replies to Resident47| 3 repliesI realize this thread is a year old, but hopefully you get this. Lead Genesis also uses the name Rayosun in lieu of LG.
- Question replies to Peter| 2 repliesWhy did you revive this dormant thread?
- Resident47 replies to Question| 1 replyBecause a new thread would have attracted a PMA stamp and a scolding to the effect that "we already have a thread for that". This conflict in turn is because of a user contingency here which is incapable of distinguishing actual ToS violations from perceived threats. Not to mention, I find blindness to the fact that most of the fraud problems we track evolve over several years and don't die off easily, in which case some maintenance of a continuity within dedicated topic threads makes sense.
- Mary replies to Frustrated ConsumerThey also sometimes come up on CID as "Green" or "Solar Solutions." But oddly, I've also seen their same numbers on CID with a fake IRS scam to follow. Glad you said everything you said. I learned from it, thanks for doing the research.
- Mary replies to Frustrated ConsumerIn my case, the seem to intensely pursue me for a while, then disappear, and then, months later, they start calling again.
- jomama| 2 repliesGood information everyone. Remember that these companies i.e. Solarcity are vicariously liable for the actions of their call centers. Should you wish to pursue. If you've gone as far as to ID and document who's calling this is great info to pass onto the FCC
- Peter replies to jomamaLG is a defendant in a federal case in Southern California against Sunrun that is in the pre-class certification stage. You are correct that LG is a major leads supplier to SolarCity, which recently was involved in a class action in N. California that has settled.
- Peter replies to Resident47Thank you for the excellent reply explaining how the ToS works at 800notes.
- Peter| 2 repliesAnyone get a call from myecoamerica.com? Is anyone surprised they use Perfect Privacy to hide registrant info??They use 559-342-8308 and main # 818-928-3372. Threads already exist for those two numbers.
- Kat replies to Peter| 1 replyAnd presumably you used this site properly by posting in those threads?
- MikeHuntleton replies to KatI believe "Peter" did use it correctly. He was informing those who read this thread that myecoamerica has used those numbers, in addition to him posting reports in those threads.
Since California is mandating all new homes built after 2020 to have Solar Panels, you can be sure every Solar telemarketer will target everyone in California , so a thread like this one will be getting more attention from phone victims wanting to discuss it.
