Since 876 is the area code for Jamaica, his goal might have been to get you to call back later asking where your prize was - and thereby incurring extra charges on your phone bill which becomes profit to them.

I just got a call from a woman I could barely understand who told me that I was the 2nd place, later the 3rd place winner of $2.5M and I would need to send $500.00 now that would be re-imbursed. Of course, I sort of played along, all the while reading the postings above. She expects that I will call back to (876) 430-5243. She was unclear on informing how I was selected for this award. Further, she wanted to know if I was home and whether I wanted the acknowledgement of award to be public or private. The only concern that I had was that she appeared to be driving (from the background noise) and she informed that she was getting gas and then expecting to head to my residence. (Call placed to the police for this one since I had not given my address, nor did we talk about it on the call). I just wanted to be sure that this wasn't an attempt to see if we were home before someone came to break into my residence. I left her expecting that I could get to Walmart and do the transfer to Andre Green, Jamaica, Jamaica W.I in three hours. This is really crazy stuff and I don't know why they would think someone is that gullible with giving them money, but it must seem to work.
i just recieved the same call, thank god for the internet ,the guy that called was using the name shelton henderson my caller id said the call was from jamaica the number was 8767913574 i new it sounded too good to be true!!! the tell tale was kids playing and crying in the background! not to mention i never win anything!
I received this same call just today and they gave me all kinds of information of what I had one and tried to make it sound so legitimate. They wanted me to go to the nearest Western Union location to wire $550 dollars for the insurance coverage and they would deliver my prize the same day by UPS. I told him I was not going to pay any money to get something I should have won. I believe if you win something legitimately you shouldn't have to pay anything for it. So I hung up. Then he proceeded to call me back 14 times on my cell phone and work number. I just didn't pick up the phone. I will check out how to report the scam is still occurring.

Just got a call 10 minutes ago from "Michael Anderson," a representative from the American Shopping network from a 1-876-276-1499. I apparently won $650,000 and I need to call back as soon as possible. I won't. The information you all have posted was really helpful. Thank you!
Yeah I just got a call from Jamaica saying I won 18.5 mil and a new Benz too. Claiming I won through my Smith's preferred shopper card. Thing is, they just opened a new Smith's across the street and have been advertising prizes, so I took the call seriously. Although, I don't know why. I highly doubt corporate headquarters of smith's is in Jamaica....

Just received a phone call yesterday from 876-583-7055. Claimed his name was David Peterson. Told me I won 200 thousand in checks and 75,000 that they would deliver to my home at 4pm in a brown leather briefcase. Gave me all kinds of information that I would need to claim my prize just before directing me to the nearest wal-mart to wire 299.50 for taxes. Swore up and down that this was about trust and god and that I would never forget him if I sent the 299 dollar. When I still refused he said "I have a copper shot for your forehead. I will kill you and wipe you out of the American computer system. I hung up and plan on contacting the attorney generals office to report the event.

Just got a call from 876-583-7055 he said his name was James McCarty, though the accent sounded more like Bob Marley. He told me I won 2.5 million dollars of which 500,000 was going to be delivered to me via suitcase today! His company, Shoppers Network Winner Company would send me the balance in a check. He also told me I won a 2016 Mercedes in my choice of either blue or black. He ask me if I was praying for this? I told him exuberantly, Yes!!!I There was just on caveat. I just needed to send him $395.00. I said: "Is that all I have to do?" He said: "Yes" So before he could ask, I offered to give him my Social Security Number, Drivers License, Bank account numbers and credit card with pin number, and my Saving Account number. I WAS GOING TO BE A BIG WINNER!! funny thing when I started to give him my drivers license number: f...u...c...k...y...o...u... He Hung Up On Me. I called back the number and got an answering machine and this heavily accented fellows name on the machine wasn't even James McCarty. I think he might have been trying to scam me.... .... He literally just called back to tell me: my drivers license number (see above) ... then hung up. Nothing like scamming the scammer.

I recieved the same call from a David Foreman from American Shoppers Award Company its a hoax
I have also had the misfortune of knowing Mr. Ronald Mcphee. He is a dangerous thief. He has been calling me at all hours of day and night for more than 18 months. He has threatened my life called me every name imaginable. I have changed phone numbers and put them on the "do not call list". But he continues. This started by returning a prize claim form received in the mail from the Netherlands. The form was a claim form for winning two million dollars. Do not send anything to the Netherlands. The information is sent directly to the scamers in Jamaica. DO NOT RETURN A CALL TO ANY 876 number. The FTC, the FBI, Project Jolt nor the local police have - NO INTEREST in these matters. I gave every peice of information to all these agencies. But Mr. Ronald Mcphee is still doing his dirt.
