876 number - You won the American Shopper's Network Sweepstakes

This is exactly the same thing that I just went through, same amount on a green dot card, same Bank of American in DC (and you are correct, the address is wrong and so is the phone number I was given for a person named Patrick Moore, reprocessing manager (yeah, right).  Also have a letter from Selma Waid, Chief Financial Officer, Bank of America.  When I called the bank at Dupont Circle, they were extremely upset because they thought they had caught this person, so beware, there are more.  The US Governement does not handle this sort of thing -- I have checked with a friend of mine in a DC law firm.  My daughter and I, when examining the check and the letter noticed a lot of spelling errors and incomplete sentences, etc.  At least the people could have taken more trouble to make the documents look authentic.  Stupid, greedy, low-life, unethical -- lots more epithets come to mind, but I'm not going to repeat them.

HELP !  My father is in the middle of getting scammed right now by people at the number 954-678-0081, some woman named Yvette from a 'law firm' out of Fort Lauderdale.  It seems he did, unfortunately, mail off $2000.00 and is sure that he has won $150,000.00  There was also another call on his caller ID from Money Exchange 218-722-3766, which looks like some check cashing business.  There have been several Private Caller calls that show on his caller ID since 'Yvette' called a few days ago.  Any advice ?  How to proceed or protect my father ??  Thanks.

Steal his checkbook if you think you can get away with it.  

Is there some sort of Adult Protective Services group you can call that might convince him to stop sending money?  Long term you might have to go to court and have him declared incompetant so you can take control of his finances.

recieved call from "dunkin fletcher" from dept. comherst   I won 450,000.00 thru American Sweepstakes Network,  2d place award winner!  I would have to call "Harold Roth" @ prudential to insure my winnings @ 609-439-4801.  Claim # JSM 0792  Called Harold, he had to call me back @ my home phone for security reasons. I knew this was a scam from beginning but was bored and wanted to see how far this went. If I needed any further assistance from Dunkin is direct line was  202-391-0981, which is an area code for Wash.D.C. (called it an voice mail was default voice "please leave essage after the beep"  pretty low key for dept. of comherst!)  Harold said he would call me back w/in 10 min- an hour and a half he called back, talked a bunch of nonsence I asked a few questions and he had to call me back again. It's been 2 an half hours w/no call back.  Maybe I asked the wrong (right) question. If he calls back I will post again!

recieved call from "robert ferguson" from dept. commerce.   I won 450,000.00 thru American Sweepstakes Network,  2d place award winner! They wanted $4,500 as insurance underwriting first. No thanks! He had me call Warren Davis at 609-439-4801. I'm going to call him tomorrow to suggest that we meet in person. Of course he will not take me up on that. More to come.
I spoke to 4 different guys who must all be in on this. I'd love to catch these guys.

I have recieved numerous calls from these jerks.I am recordeing the phone numbers and t,dates & times thet call. So far I have reieved14 calls. They just won't leave me alone.. Caller ID says JM Kingston. Area codes are from Jamaica. I have reported these people but they just keep calling .I am at my wits end.

I suggest you make no phone calls to numbers they have supplied you with  You may be running up a huge phone bill

I have also recorde all the 876 numbers that they call from,up to 14 as of last logging.I have filled a form out with the FCC but so far nothing has been solved.This jrk even knew where I shop , and knew my address. Anyone with suggestions as to my next step ?

a Different one!  A 929# but still American Shoppers Network, said we won 950,000.00 and they had sent the ck 90 days ago and it was about to expire and if we wanted it re-issued we needed to send 10%.  The money is being held by a bank and they were a law firm, Milford Law in NewYork.  Honey I got a clear picture of this cajun sending any money to those cabbage heads!!!

hell i got the same letter from Selma some numbers on check just different state mine said Charolette,nort Carolina and mine was for 3.5 million won a contest at a super market Super Buck$ and a letter from a mr.James Carter Representative of Gaming and Lotteries but my boyfriend send the 500.00 money pak

There's no need to check it out.  Its a scam.  Do not call him back.  Do not send him any money.  

If he sends you a check it do not cash it.  The check will bounce and your bank will charge you for cashing a bad check.
