Car Warranty Scam
- Letsgetthem| 19 repliesI have been getting calls from several numbers. Both robo calls and some with a live person selling an extended warranty for my vehicle. I am trying to find out who they REALLY are. Here is what information I have so far. They claim to be Motor Guard or Motor Guard USA. Yet the only business by that name in the US is some automotive parts place in California. I ask for their website and they just tell me it is motorguard.com or motorguardusa.com. They all claim to sell warranties for Royal Admin (royaladmin.com), but when I contacted Royal Admin, they tell me that they do not have anyone or any group called Motor Guard selling warranties for them. I believe the call centers are based in Las Vegas for several of them told me that they were in Vegas. I have had calls when I ask questions, they simply hang up. I have been getting calls now for 10 months on both my cell and home phone. I have had them call from the same number my home and cell within 10 seconds and had both of them on the line at the same time. Here is a link to a whole conversation I have had with them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f65shJ3x8d8&t=210s
- Cashew replies to Letsgetthem| 5 repliesThis website is phone-number driven. What numbers called you? Did you report them in the correct number threads?
- Letsgetthem replies to Cashew| 4 repliesYes I posted under those numbers also. These people use many numbers because they are now targeting numbers in area codes that they are calling into. I know this site is phone number driven, but I know others are recieving calls from this scam that are different. If this site is strictly phone number related, then there is not need for a forum section on this site. The reason I posted it here is to share what information I have so that perhaps others can add to it and to really find out who is behind these scams. We need to work together to shut these people down. It seems, from my past experience, that anytime I post any clues or leads that I try to get on here, it gets shut down. Why don't we work together to help find out who is running these scams.
- BibYes these car warranty scams are the scum of the earth. They are using local numbers so your call blocker won’t block them and they constantly change the number. My mom got sucked by them ONCE and luckily her credit card company reversed the charge but only after we contacted them almost right away. The scammers told her they wrote her original warranty and also that they had a A rating with BBB. In order to see the warranty contract she needed to give them her credit card...when she got the warranty (which they would only email) it was a completely different company and not in good rating with bbb. Never do business with a phone solicitor - there is no proof they are who they say they are.
So thank you “letsgetthem” - I agree the actual phone numbers arent very relevant anymore, but it is important to get the word out and to hear peoples experiences. I find it frustrating that some of your posts are taken down. - SMBthey also call from 716-210-8886
spoofed number similar to my own phone number. - AnonymThey also called from 917-997-7708
- 585-763-4407585-763-4407 car warranty scam.
- KHThey spoof local numbers. 281 852 8847, a non working number.
- Randy| 3 repliesMy last call showed a local phone number (spoofed non-working number) and no company name was shown on my caller ID. The recorded call did not give a company name either, and no option to opt out of the call. The recording was repeated 3 times to my answering machine, stating to press 5 to talk to an agent.
- Randy replies to RandyReceived same recorded call again. The name and number on my caller ID was someone I knew, but identical recording as before.
- RussI keep getting calls from many different numbers. I spoke with one sales person. He told me that. We’ll call as mush as we want and their nothing you can do about it. I keep getting calls for a car that I sold 5 years ago. My best advice to people don’t answer any calls until they’re in your contacts list.
- Make My Day !| 3 repliesSpoofing my 970-576-#### exchange. They called from several different 970-576- numbers. This is the first time they left a message, about last chance to get an extended warranty. I also posted it under the actual number ( 970-576-9679 ). I doubt anyone will see it. Sue them ? I think that is wishful thinking. They're calling my old flip cell phone, and I block ( 970-576-**** and 970-576-#### and +1-970-576-#### ) None of the blocks is working.
- Kat* replies to Make My Day !| 1 reply"I also posted it under the actual number ( 970-576-9679 ). I doubt anyone will see it." Why? This is a phone number driven site so anyone getting a call from that number will search for it and find your post because that's how this site works.
- No WarrantyYou really don't need this garbage anyway. Rarely do you get a return on what you pay for the additional warranty - this goes for car warranties or any other warranty for that matter. Any warranty I have ever had to make a claim on has been within a year. And beyond that the items I own have had trouble like 5-10 years later. Really not worth it. You can ignore these calls.
- Make My Day ! replies to Kat*The scammer isn't likely to use the same number again,so Topic is most useful to find out what the scam is about. Only for those who really care. Just a few caveats. They have multiple scams from the same number. Other scammers can copy another scammer's number,to spread disinformation. The main point is - I know they're ALL scams. Most of my posts are for my eldrly mother's phone. I have online access to her phone account, and I love to,well " MAKE MY DAY " !
