Social Security & DEA troubles in one call! Oh No!

Received a call from the "Social Security Office of Administration" warning me, beckoning me to call them back on the "hotline" i.e. this number. I did so from a spoofed line and was able to engage them for 21 minutes. The highlights:

    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-758-4344

Was connected with the Indian version of "Raymond Smith" who represented himself as an employee of the social security administration. He wanted to know my name, full address, phone number, birthdate and of course social. I provided a very plausible but totally inaccurate response to all these inquires. These fools are getting smarter now and will put you on hold to verify your info by matching the social you provided to a database of numbers issued by state and year so its important for you provide a matching algorithm. Failure to do so will result in them hanging-up on you.

Once all my info was verified, I was informed of the warrants issued in my (made-up) name and the potential consequences.  My new friend "Raymond" informed me of the following:

    His employee name: Raymond Smith
    ID Badge # 3156219AC
Case ID GA7010  <--- Notice the GA. I used an algorithm from a database and randomly chose the state of GA
    Warrant Number against me: 53-7452

Story: His english was very difficult to understand but heres the crux of it.

They found an abandoned car in Bowie, TX which had been rented under my name and social. In it, they found
9lbs of cocaine and thousands of dollars in cash. Further investigation indicated that many accounts were opened in my name and therefore I would now be charged with drug trafficking and money laundering. Oh dear!

So, according to section 42 and a whole lot of sub-paragraphs which I absolutely could not understand, I'd be charged and taken to jail for 9 years! Oh, poor Hermey!

I was asked if I had any questions or comments regarding this case. NOPE! I said, I'm ready for whatever consequences may come my way. With that, I was transferred to the "Senior Officer" after a brief hold.

The "senior officer" now graced my ear with his fractured english but I believe he told me his name was
Eaton Walker. (such 'Merican and flag wavin' kinds of names I'll tell ya wut!) Anyways, Eaton was from the DEA, how do I know? He told me twice so I'd be absolutely clear about which authority and organization I was talking to.

Eaton stuck with warrant number 53-7542 to keep it all official like but told me NOT TO WORRY! If would cooperate with them and explain myself they'd take that into consideration and the only possible negative outcome would be they'd suspend my social and issue me a new number and card. (Wish that could really happen in real life) but I indicated I was most eager to cooperate.

He asked me if I had anything to say and I told him, I said it all to his chum Raymond but would be happy to reiterate it all if he felt he needed to hear it first-hand. However, Eaton was satisfied with things as they were and maundered on about how my card will now be deactivated and that all my accounts no matter where they are in the world will now become inactive.

So I'm kinda waiting for the part where they ask for my credit card but that never comes and I'm getting the vibe that its not going to happen. Eaton thanks me profusely for my cooperation and asks if I have anything else at all to say.

    The Reveal:

Yes, I say, I'd like to thank you for you time and professional attitude in dealing with what must be a very serious case. He thanked me! Further, I'd like to point out that I've now been on the phone with you for exactly 21 minutes and as awesome as thats been, every bit of information I've provided you is false and......but Eaton (like myself) went out of character and told me that it was THEY who wasted my time and that they are only paid to speak with people. If they somehow scam (you) then thats your problem. They get paid no matter what.

I think Eaton was actually upset though, he started cursing first in english but then in his own super secret dea language. He did point out that I never fooled him and he knew I was scamming him the whole time and called me a "very bad rascal!" Oh my!

With that, Eaton gently hung-up on me and now you know the rest of the story! Good Day!

"A very bad rascal"?! Oh, my. I hope your post (and mine) doesn't get PMA'd due to such foul language.

Get PMA’d due to such foul language? 🤔😂 LOL!

Probably won’t! Especially since he posted about lame-o social security scammers and the flake on the other end of the call was extremely lame to begin with ... as are they all!

🤔 I wonder if the scam caller could somehow be related to Elmer Fudd? Darn that “rascally wabbit” anyway! 😜

But seriously I’m glad he posted it here :)

I had replied to your message about the SSA scam going on and it seems someone reported it when there was nothing wrong with the post what so ever. I clearly stated it was an SSA scam and belonged in this group.

Herman wonderful post and something I would love to do to these scammers! I’ve received 10 calls myself in the past two weeks, and of course all from different numbers. Although I’ve known about the scam for a while, I immediately called my elderly parents (in their 80s) and informed them NOT to fall for this and never to answer if they do not know the number or caller id doesn’t display familiar information.

Your ounce of prevention, in the opinion shared roundly by law enforcers on watch for these creeps, will do more lasting damage than confrontation ... which is ultimately softened by their skill in hiding from a real fight. Certainly the exposure and mockery reveals much about the enemy's true nature. Promoting the wide adoption of a practical paranoia starves them of victims from their preferred hunting grounds.

It's stuff like this that keeps me up at night - my parents are in their upper 70's and generally aware that scams go on, but if someone gets them just right, who knows...I'm going to have them listen to the call and just make sure they know not to give out any info on the phone.

Guess what, I just got this call from SSA employee Brenda Pearsons ID#US2040, with the exact same history. An abandoned car in the border .... She transferred me to the DEA agent Hunter Game (!!!). ID#IR417. He repeated the same history but I had no time to play games so I just hanged up on him!!! The number they use to call was (203) 916-4911

It would have been more useful had you posted under that number...on this number search-driven site.

Received 2 calls from "Brenda Pearson" SSA advising my SSN had "been used for fraudulent purposes in South Texas".  This was a recorded message which directed me "to press one to speak to an  agent".  I don't take advice from Robo calls.
I believe both numbers, 508-381-4136 and 508-388-1440, were spoofed.
Have posted under both numbers AND reported to Office of Inspector General: SS Administration Scam Reporting.
Don't know that the IG can do anything to stop these thieves but maybe they'll try harder if they get enough reports.
