Fact: no one has ever gone to jail over robo calls....EVER.  One guy in FL made  over a Billion calls in 3 months.  He was fined (but he never paid). And why should he?  Robo calls should be treated as a Felony crime and people sent to prison.  The only hold-up on this is the Washington politicians.

 Well no, they have nothing to do with it.  Criminal cases must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.  They are far more difficult to prove and the accused has the ability to appeal verdicts.  There is the possibility the accused could be found not guilty.  There is the possibility that there could be a mistrial or a locked jury which would put the government in the position of having to try the case again at considerable cost.  Now a civil case on the other hand only has to have a preponderance of the evidence.  In other words all the government has to do is tilt the scale a little in their favor.  Much easier to do and very much quicker and cheaper.  Now, please explain to us where the "Washington politicians" have anything to do with that.  Please post your proof as well.

Fact: The Department of Justice has at times tried to make you happy. I leave you to determine if any of their defendants actually served the prison terms they won.

The current Administration is of the opinion that scamming is a legit business.  The DOJ won't be pursuing any of these cases.
I've set my iPhone to not ring if the caller is not already in my directory, and it's been wonderful.  Very few of these [***] leave messages - most robocallers these days give up after 3 rings, so they can more quickly move on to the next target.

Well, given that the current Administration is RUN by a con artist, I'm not at all surprised by Jim D.'s statement about it considering scamming as "a legit business".  I can block spam calls from re-occuring on my cellphone.  But I CAN'T on the house phone.  Even though I'm PAYING for call blocking.  Ended up filing a formal complaint with the FCC over the *carrier*.  Because either their IT people & engineers are completely incompetent, or they're getting enough of payback from the scammers (either in kickbacks or just with legitimate bills, it isn't clear).

You can block land-line scam calls with a one-time cost of about seventy-five bucks for a challenge-response type call blocker.  They will block 100% of all calls not on the white list.  After over five years of use at my house, no telecriminals have dialed through and left a message. Not a single one. My phone doesn't ring for them either.  Not even once.  Other "blockers" that ring one time are not call blockers if they ring.  One ring is no less annoying than three, at 4AM.
