- Mike-in-MD| 1 replyA vigilante hacked into the CCTV for the call center and provided a video recording to the BBC who alerted Indian authorities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le71yVPh4uk - Tizzard the Wizard| 7 repliesThe pity is, when these scammers are released the next day from jail by their police friends, and never face any further jail time, we'll never see or hear that story.
- B-Edwards replies to Tizzard the Wizard| 5 repliesFrom what I have read, those friends among the police and courts are of the store-bought variety. And yes, that seriously sucks.
- Joe replies to B-Edwards| 4 repliesDo you have proof of crooked cops or is this just your suspicion?
- MikeHuntleton replies to Joe| 2 repliesMany Indian cops take bribes....FACT. All you need to do is read and BAM...there's your proof.

You know they are only going to wind up back out on the streets and back at scamming. The Authorities have given us a clue already when they made this Statement:
The Evidence is right there on the criminal's computers!Quote:Indian police say it is a difficult crime to prosecute because all of the victims are overseas, and they need evidence from victims in order to bring charges. - GreatGoombaEven if they didn't have cops in their pockets, other articles are indicating that the company was making upwards of $4 million dollars a year for the last handful of years. With that kind of money, you can fight pretty much anything short of a murder charge into the ground.
- B-Edwards replies to JoeIf you have watched any of Browning's clips, he provides backup stories and personal insights as he lives/works in India. Also, see Mike's link.

So we hope. The criminals are highly motivated to "lose" all their records as the shadow of law enforcement nears. That was a frustrating factor in a recent TCPA class settlement ... names escape me now. When possible the domestic attorneys on both sides like to have phone records from both ends of the line, call center and victims.
Footnote from the big hoo-hah DoJ raid of fake tax debt call centers in Thane 3.2 years ago: "The police raids found little in the way of documentation, beyond some training materials. Another former worker said this was likely because call center managers stopped employees from bringing pens and phones to work." This suggests that the smarter frauds strive to limit their paperwork footprint. Or as a chef once taught me, "Clean as you go is the sign of a pro".
Not that I'm excusing South Asian authorities in their feeble policing of cross-border fraud. If they finally got serious about the problem, we'd see a news story twice a week about some office raid in Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lahore, or Rawalpindi. - post pending moderator approval
- Sara replies to Tizzard the WizardAgree with you 100%! Some people are serious scumbags.
- KorindaI love J Browning and others tracking and taking these call centers down. It's a massive job. I heard the Indian people hate that this stuff is tainting their country, and I also heard these scammers are highly respected in India. They make lots of $$. Can't have it both ways. Beware.
- John Jones| 1 replyTom Smith with an Indian accent just called me. I heard tons of voices in the background, they were Susie and Betty and Joey and Jim. Blah
- BigA replies to John JonesSo you dredged up an old thread simply to make a really, really off topic post? Maybe you failed reading and/or reading comprehension in school? You did go to school didn't you?
