"Potential Spam" caller ID

I received two calls today (both leaving no message) in which the caller ID is "Potential Spam".  I wonder if this is something that my phone provider, as well as other phone/cable/telecom providers, is now using to screen unwanted robocalls.  If this is widespread, it would make it a lot easier for someone to screen a call before answering.

A “Potential Spam” call is from Verizon Wireless and was flagged using call screening software. They have been doing that for several years, nothing new about it. Other providers have similar CID displays, such as "Scam Likely" or “Spam Risk”.
