If you receive an email or letter in the post / regular mail saying you won a lottery and they send you a check? Or you sold something on Ebay and the buyer paid with a check? Or you took out a loan from a distant or online bank and they sent you a check? You can just take the check to your bank and cash it right?
WRONG! And what is worse, if you cash it, in most states in the US, you may be guilty of passing a counterfeit check, money laundering or worse. Clark Howard did a piece on his radio show about a man in California who was arrested for cashing a bogus check. In other words, by merely attempting to cash the check, you could go to federal prison! - Slim replies to TamianthAllow me to emphasize Tami's post, with another link, just in case you missed reading that good information:
Read this ... carefully!

Extract:
"In these cases, the depositor most likely will be held responsible for the entire amount of the fraudulent check."
Instead of cashing the check, take it and the envelope in which it came to the post office. They will use it as evidence and pursue the scammer. - GlobalTestMarket_VICTIM
- BigAGlobal Test Market aka Global market Insight aka Lightspeed Research (at least they seem to be changing their name at the speed of light) has listed their address at two locations in the whois domain search: http://www.whois.com/whois/globaltestmarket.com
They seem to have an F rating at the BBB: http://www.bbb.org/wisconsin/business-reviews ... e-wi-1000010022
Their new website: http://www.gmi-mr.com/
They are also know as lightspeed online research, llc. - Dr. Peter PanGlobal test Market is a scam! The check they send you will bounce and lose you money. I never used mine and destroyed it after reading their so-called position literature. It seemed a scam from the start. I would gladly torture these scum if I had them. May they suffer a short and disease filled life.
Just a note that I am not some nut. I am a doctor and hater losers and users that hurt innocent people. - darell replies to mary| 2 repliesdarell like this should do jail time fraud is a felony , i can t bear to be a part of it.

- to good to be true| 1 replygot a check for 1,995.00 from sandia area, to cash and go to cvs to purchase a green dot money card for 500.00 the first three 3 times for $500.00 each and the 4th $275.00 put the money on the green dot money pack card and give the 14 digit numbers on the card is the a scam. its called a secret shopper is this a scam
- Nimrod replies to to good to be trueYes, it is a scam. The check is no good. If you cash it, it will bounce and you will have to repay the money to the bank. The scammers will have your money (that you used to buy the green dot cards with), and you could possibly face charges for passing a bad check.
If the check was mailed to you, take it to the Post Office and have it given to the Postal Inspector. If it was sent another way, take it to your local Police. - laughing replies to james newblejames is either a shill troll or brain damaged. How anyone could be a parent of so many children and not have a clue is beyond believable.
- laughingwow, this thread started years ago and still there are people so naive or ignorant that walk right into this fraud scheme to take the fall? If this is the level of the majority of humanity this planet is doomed.
The fact that federal agencies and banks allow this to continue makes me believe they are in on it as you fools who cash these dummy checks are their bread and butter. - fly on the wall replies to Aliwhat do you care? the people who fall for this idiocy are so numerous the reply applies to almost every one of them.
- WalkerMany of our seniors alive today grew up in the 20th century when you could more or less reliably trust that people would be honest. You could pick up a call on your landline phone and expect to hear only from family or friends. It is this simplistic trust that could lead older folks, who are not street-wise as later generations, to fall for scams of any sort -- like this one for example. Do inform older folks of the dangers of being too trusting, although it is very possible that they will go on their own ways anyway.
- Anurag Kanishk replies to Randall ChapmanGlobal Test Market is a scam site. The CEO of my company received check of $50, but his check bounced. My wife never received the check. My wife installed a software Comtracker on her computer which was a chinese software and that software stole $4400 from my wife’s paypal account. We got the money back but Global Test Market is a scam site. It steals your money.
