These scum-bags are relentless! They call me at least twice a day on my land-line with a call-blocker, but I can still see them in my caller ID logs. I've had my number for 35 years, and have never had a past-due debt that they could possibly claim. They are criminals. It's as simple as that.

Wow, have I ever been so stupid! Here I have been blocking number after number expecting a different result. That is actually insane! So I did some research and found this excellent article by BigA on what to do: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-859-340-1606
Guess it is time to get busy reading and learning then taking this problem into my own hands and making the calls stop!!!!!

Death to Scammers
If you owe a legitimate debt, any legitimate creditor or agency authorized to collect will send notice through the mail. Ask that question about PRA.
I'm going to keep a list too! To send to the FCC!!

Portfolio Recovery and Midland Credit Mgmt are the two most complained about companies operating under the canopy of "legitimate business". They have both been sued multiple times by multiple State Attorneys General. Unfortunately under the current legal system they pay the monster fines and continue their modus operandi. Until our governing bodies step up and put these companies out of business they will continue to have full reign in practice of distortion and harassment.

Odd. Back in August '19 one of the spoofed numbers I had for a "ventilation cleaning service" caller led to a recording for this Portfolio Recovery Associates Other call numbers from this cleaning service had different spoofed numbers that were disconnected. I assume it was just a fluke that the original spoofed number went to this Portfolio.thing???

The correct Federal agency to report telemarketing malfeasance to is the FTC (Federal Trade Commision). Contact www.ftc.gov/complaint and file a formal complaint. Has worked for me several times.
Except that this is not "telemarketing" so why you posted that in this thread makes me wonder what your purpose was. You should look up the definition of the word "telemarketing" so that you won't make a complete fool out of yourself in the future.
Nah. Just several regular users that grow tired of know-it-alls who come here spouting nonsense, as if they know what they're talking about. A great example is a few posts ago, where the author talked about this problem with PRA being "telemarketing", when in reality it's about PRA's illegal practices (according to the FDCPA) in debt recovery.
Worse yet, "pgulrich" made no mention of PRA in a spurious remark so free of context that it could drop in anywhere, like an ill-timed Public Service Announcement. It would be like attending the wake of a stranger and loudly proclaiming near the casket that "a dry skin condition benefits from daily application of moisturizing salve. Works for me!"

Portfolio is actually owned by Capital One! Check with your state's AG's office I believe there are class actions suits on-going in every state! And Portolio Recovery/Capital One have lost everyone!

Interesting. When I call a CID number when starting my evidence building a lot of times the number is answered "Portfolio Recovery Ass...." I didnt read all the posts. Is this PRA a known TM affiliate?
Yes, Just like you & Other's said. I too have been harassed by them; Trying to re-recollect on past outdated taken care of long ago ID theft, and wrong (same spelled different name, same Mo. Yr. born, different day) person info, pasted to my credit record, far back as the 70's, and "Portfolio Recovery Associates" & their subsidiary's attacking together in 2016 to 2018 to illegally collect uncollectable (already taken care of twice proven wrong & not mine) debt, and them getting it somehow falsely put back on my pristine clean A+ credit record, Consulted attorneys said: "Only way now to clean this out permanently was to do a chapter-7 bankruptcy; Yes, unfortunately this was cheapest courtroom way to take care of this; Now suffer with long haul to get back my good standing credit, nobody cares (past good creditor's) though, they are just looking at that chapter-7, And, Oh yeah, some how P.R.A. managed to do a catch-22 loophole to put multiple (for each fake debt) posting's back on my credit report as delinquencies, but I went back to attorneys and said "Hey, I thought the painful Chapter-7 was to take care of this?", and so it became their pain to clean it. But there is still that long road ahead of recuperation from what these scam collectors did. So in closing; That You very much Mark for this info, I think I'll pre-write down what to send of my thought's in an e-mail, and then visit the Libraries computer.
