800-873-2400 - phishing

Computerized call claims to be Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention investigating suspicious activity on your account, but cites a different name than yours and gives you no way to reply other than to either call back that number or the Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention number they provide.

The calls come at times Wells Fargo Fraud Prevention is closed and inaccurately listed their hours, so they are trying to get people to try reaching WF, fail to get through, then try the original 800 number back to contact someone to 'correct' the information.

I contacted Wells Fargo's Suspicious Activities line. They verified that Wells Fargo did not place the call.

why place this in the forums instead of the main part of the site?

Didn't get the option to post on main page because of search glitch earlier in the day. Now works and post has been made there.
