Pat, if you do in fact have a 4 year accounting degree then you would have taken classes in taxes. The reason I say this is because my husband has his masters in accounting and he owns two tax office franchises and he is always looking for people with experience as a tax preparer and as a bookkeeper. Please look in your area for those types of offices either H&R Block or Liberty Tax. Granted, tax season is only from January to mid April but, they still have to be open 10 hours a week during the off season and my husband gets calls all the time during the off season for people needing appointments, and tax office owners are always looking for qualified people to work during the off season also. You could set up your bookkeeping services through the tax office and get out of the boiler room.
You're right of course. Pat has better options. Like most of us, Pat suffers from the limitations she is placing on herself. It is much easier for her to get on here and complain than it is for her to get out of her comfort zone and do something.
To quote an old teacher of mine, she is choosing to "wallow in ignorance".
Sometimes genuine sympathy is a swift kick in the behind and a demand that one do better in life. ;^)

I think this is called "creating exponential noise".
Essentially this thread is a way of creating unrelated threads and "information/noise", as to make it harder for someone not accustomed to filtering out these kinds of things. It serves at times to keep them from actually getting to information that might actually help them deal with these people/telemarketers.
Maybe there should be a "sympathy/feel sorry for me" subsection of the forum to keep each part more focused. Then anyone in the "biz" can have a place to whine/cry to their hearts content. Humor section maybe?... just a thought.
BTW thanks Julia and all others on this site for doing what you do. It's made what I need to do much more "productive".
You stick it.You stick the phoney sob story about telemarketers dying in the desert in world gone to hell. You are nigerian. Stop pretending to be Irish. You are a scam artist.

It's fun to taunt a telemarketer.

I'm glad I read these posts. Never in a million years would I think that this could be a scam coming for a so-called "Collection Agency". I was going to call to ask that my name & phone no. be removed, but now I'm not because of the possibility of them being identity skimmers. Holy Cow! I've never heard of this before and am glad I did.

I pay for my phone service. I should not have to put up with telemarketers, because they are pests and do not pay my cell phone bill. Or my land line. I am on the Do Not Call List, but they ignore it. I hope all these violators get put in prison. They are using my phone service without permission.

I am beginning to believe that these shady telemarketing companies are hiring well intentioned, decent people as telemarketers. I am sure some are as evil as the evil company but others mean well and may have no idea they are participating in a scam. A job is a job when you need the money. We need to get beyond the telemarketers to their managers and further up the line and give THEM hell.
In order to find the big scammer, the little ones should be willing to open up and admit that they are working for a big fraud who controls them like slaves.
