SCAM: Junk text claims you've won $1000 Best Buy gift card
- montemonte you are the 1.000 bestbuy gift cared just go to http://bestbuy and give code 4487 to win prize
- B replies to i8onediduWe need a telephone for NAMECHEAP.COM. They are hosting the site. We also need to contact Best Buy's corporate office, since their name is being used in a derogatory manner.
- PaulI got a similar text from 815-579-9742 (an Illinoise phone number) that claimed, "Your entry last month has WON! Go to http://bestbuyprizes.net and enter code #### to claim your FREE $1000 Best Buy Gift Card within 24 hours!" Interesting is a quick Google search shows Best Buy's corp. headquarters is located in Richmond, Minnesota; it's possible they could have their prizes center located elsewhere, but it seems like a lot of overhead cost that makes bad business sense.
A quick Whois Domain Lookup of bestbuyprizes.net showed the domain is registered to a guy called Samir Kocchar; I've posted the registrant information below, for those that may be interested.
Thank you to everyone for helping to keep everyone from being scammed. :)
