I want to know how they got my number? I got the same message and I normally NEVER shop at Best Buy but just purchased a new TV there two weeks ago and now I'm getting these messages... is this phone number leak coming from Best Buy or its employees?

From 805-704-0256 "You've been selected to win a $1000 best buy gift card! But only the 1st 1,000 users that enter code 7777 at http://bestbuyprize.com will actually Receive it"   Of course we all know the saying...if it sounds too good to be true it probably is a scam.  So I googled "besy buy prize" and got here.  Glad I didn't actually go to their website!  Thanks to whoever started this....

Scam text from 559-623-2719. Selected to 'Win' $1000 Best Buy Card with code 7777. Went to the site and all it asked for was their code. Searched on google and found this site. But how do those texts benefit them?

The scammer will ask for a credit card number to pay shipping and handling or for identification.  They will use that number to spend as much of your money as they can get, much more than $1000.

They will never send the $1000 gift card.

Thanks, not Michael. I would never give them my info but I guess some would. Its also super annoying to get garbage texts.

I've been an Iphone user for years... only when I bought a phone at best buy did these spam texts start.  I think an employee sold the numbers to a spammer.

in other text promos if you text 'stop', it does the trick.  not sure why, some kind of macro verif reader on other end that's given criteria?  i sent back 'stop.  stop your scam texts before i contact the media'.  not sure if it'll work but couldn't hurt, could it?   made me feel better.

I also got a text message from this stating "Thank you for shopping at Best Buy.You won a $1000 BestBuy gift card! Please go to http://winner.bestbuy.com.cards4unow.info/254669. The phone # is 1-347-559-6648. When I Goggled it, I came to this site and found info. Thanks for the alert. How do these people get my cell # and text when I do not give it out?

The use robo-dialers programmed to call every number in a sequence.
