Pacific Telecom Communications Group

I have been harassed by calls originating from the network of Pacific Telecom Communications Group for the past year.  This is a company classified as a telecom utility, but who's sole purpose relates to facilitating telemarketing calls.

I have been unable to get these calls to stop and regulatory agencies have not yet taken any action.  I decided to create a blog with details of this company, a full listing of every phone number owned by them, and links to online complaint forms to the State regulatory agencies that are supposed to be overseeing them:

Ive also been receiving calls from this particular company.  no messages left.
Ive registered this number with national registry and that was a BIG JOKE!  
Ive called verizon and only thing they can do is block for 90 days and then I have to call again to re-block.  This is incredibly inconvenient, unethical and ridiculous that in an age of technology, that NOTHING can be done to these soliciting [***].

Here is the contact information for Antone Accuardi, who describes himself as the "legal representative" of Pacific Telecom Communications Group.  Incidentally, he is also involved in other companies directly affiliated with illegal telemarketing.

Please give him a call and ask him to stop the harassing telemarketing calls.

Two calls in 3 days from this Pacific Teleco Communications Group. The first umber that showd up was
971-208-9960, today it was 971-208-9963, leading me to believe it is the same caller. Why can the callers
not IDENTIFY themselves? No they want a live person to answer then they have you on the line. For all I know it could be a telemarketer doing the dirty work of a Canadian company, in that way they avoid the Canadian
DO NOT CALL list.

I may just send this guy Accuardi an email after passing his number along to other telemarketers in North
America. Wonder how he would like his office line jammed up with these calls????

Using $20 USB modem & Phonetray (free: http://www.phonetray.com/phonetrayfree.htm), I was able to use JD's list of telephone numbers on his blog (http://telemarketerspam.wordpress.com ; Thank you!) to create a Phonetray filter list using wildcards. See below. I confirmed it works since I've blocked 4 calls from Pacific telecom all in the last week. And all from different area codes. It feels good to fight back since the "Do not call lists" don't work.

There are many call blocking solutions available.  Most of them do not require a windows computer to be up and running the way phonetray does.

I suggest searching 800notes using startpage.com for the following:

You will see a number of different solutions being discussed, many of them more energy efficient then phonetray.

Thanks for the information. The important thing I wanted to post was the list of Pacific Telecom numbers with wildcards which is what JD is missing on the blog.

I'm sure there are lots of other great free call blocking solutions, I just wanted to show folks one of them; again, not really important which one you use. Merely illustrative.

For the technical side I use an atom processor netbook for my media centre. So it's running all the time anyhow.  It averages about 13W and in my jurisdiction that's about $20/year to run in electricity. Since it is running all the time anyhow, it was free to run call blocking software.  Phonetray runs as a service so I don't have to be logged in.  In terms of processor resources, all my other functions run at the same speed even with PhoneTray on it so no loss of functionality there.

Yours is a much better approach than the one I see mentioned all too often - taking an old boat anchor windows machine and dedicating it to the task. Nothing like using 400-500 watts 24/7 to answer the phone ;) . Small energy efficient "appliance" computing is much better...

Yes, I agree. Taking an old machine that runs 100W plus is not the way to go. If you're running at 200W machine you can pay for an ultra-low voltage CPU netbook and it pays you back in one year.  Now that I have a Kill-a-watt & a home energy monitor I'm getting really good at figuring these things out.

What I did was get a call blocking device that allows you to block entire area codes.   I then went through 800notes and found the most frequently reported area codes used by Pactel and blocked all of them.      So afar, so good.

FYI, the complaints directly to the Oregon Public Utilities Commission are finally having some impact.  They have made the recommendation to revoke Pacific Telecom's certificate to operate as a utility:

If this ruling stands, it will prevent Pacific Telecom from using it's 22,000 Oregon phone numbers for telemarketing purposes.

Where did you get that call blocker? Can you download it or do u have to purchase it?
