How the 3rd party collection field has changed.

I agree Consumer. The 3rd party debt collection industry is and has been fraught with fraud and illegal practices. The only solution is to outlaw the entire industry. Once a company writes off a debt it should be forever forgiven by federal law. Make the company collect its own debts or write them off for tax credit and avoid all these shady scammers. Let s change the law and vote Obama in 2012!

I'm in favor of outlawing third-party collections and instead force collection agencies to act only as agents of the original creditor, though not too sure about the Obama part...

we kept getting collection calls for someone we'd never heard of either and I finally put a notice on their Facebook page and someone finally called us to try to get it stopped!!  Every time they call I now have a person I can call to report it!!!  May not work for every company (this was Bank of the West) it seems to have helped in our case............ finally!!
