ever since I subscribed to ABC6 weather news (via SMS) I have been getting calls Telemarketing calls and text from 4 digit numbers. So I unsubscribed and nothing changed

I'd suggest you check the ABC 6 user agreement.   It's probably on their web site if they have one.   You might find that by signing up for their weather news you also signed up for a s@#$ load of  telemarketing from their "affiliates" as well.    This stuff is pretty common.
