Perhaps Door2Door DID consider that the number was spoofed, and that was why he/she didn't  pick up.  Did you ever stop to think that?

You're looking to criticize when there is no cause to.
1st post (CelticDragon) basically says: number might be spoofed
    2nd post (Door2Door) says don't pick up
3rd post (you) repeats that it might be spoofed.
Nothing about D2D's post indicates that he doesn't know it might be spoofed.  He is simply adding information to the discussion.

Another exhibit in support of abolishing all "xxx area code" threads ..... I can't tell Jet here to read other parts of the thread because it lacks the focus needed to address these questions of caller motive.

This could be fake tax debt, fake payday loan debt, or some other ruse I haven't thought of. Either Cold War nostalgia is on a comeback, or "blacklisting" one's SSN is absurd fiction for propping up an empty threat.

Got a call at work and they asked for me. They said I was selected for a $7000.00 grant. First of all, how did they get my name and work number? Second thing that didn't seem right, they called me from a 202-745-2752 number and wanted me to call a 979-318-4842 number in the next 5 minutes. So I called that number and the person that answered didn't know what I was calling about. I mentioned the grant and he asked for information, that I didn't give him. I told him if I get another call from them, that I was going to report them.  Which I did. Be careful out there...
