Allstate Insurance, I can't believe...

Last weekend, I was getting quote for better auto insurance rate and I tried the three biggest. One of them was Allstate Insurance.
They ask you, online, for name, address, phone number (Progressive is asking for Social Security, amazing, but I didn't tell them).
I was pondering to write wrong phone number, but then it was Allstate, respectable insurance company, right?
I was wrong. They are calling me every day, now I have not only 'Canadian Pharmacy', I have now Allstate, shame of them, they are waking me up in the morning, they call during the day, more times. Of course, I never answer the phone and I am not going to answer their phone calls, ever. Even to tell them to stop harassing me.
But, how they dare to do that? Are they so desperate for costumers? I would never go with them, because of this.

Unfortunately you opened the door and they won't stop until they make a sale or think they'll make a sale. Maybe try and find your local office, let them give you a quote and let them know you are no longer fair game. Same thing happened to us when we were online looking for a new car.

gotta love america home of where the lazy get lazier. is this a serious post or are you kidding? You gave them your number, and your mad that they are calling you. You wont pick up to tell them your no longer interested. Their representatives get paid to make a sale im sure of it. More then likely their lines are recorded so why would you not pick up to tell them your not interested.

Thank you, I already have my old auto insurance back, when I presented them with others quotes, they decreased price about $400/year.
15 minutes could save you $400 bucks with all insurances, not only Geico. :)

This is procedures. Try to get quotes without phone numbers. Is obligatory.
If you are so clever, rather, tell me, how you would obtain quotes without phone number?

I am usually very careful, but what I had to do, I had to do. No phone number, no quotes.
Why are you so surprised?
When you buy online, you have to tell them phone number.
Never called me anybody. But Allstate Insurance did.

I still suggest you talk to Allstate and tell them they are too high and to take your number out of their data base. If they know you're not going to give them your business I hope they would stop calling.

Well, you did open the door, so you will need to close the door.....

Myself, I used to get weekly solicitations from Allstate corporate and various local Allstate reps, via mail, offering me insurance.
Now while it was not as bothersome as a phone call, I still grew tired of the mail spam and the possibility my information could be sold/moved/obtained elsewhere.
So, I did what was follow the advise recommended here:

At Allstate.com, I entered my name, address, phone number, etc... and in the message I politely but directly made it perfectly clear that I had no interest in ever doing business with Allstate Group (note: Group, make sure you specify that) and to remove all information and records from their system, they were to be only authorized to contact me in the event I was involved in a claim by their customer.
Couple days later I received a reply to the email stated everything was purged.

That was about 6 years ago and I have never received any solicitation from them or their group sense.

While most fly-by-night solicitors will ignore DNC requests, the big name company generally will play by the rules as they are very big targets for fines, sanctions, and suits for DNC violations.

So, fox you mean if i give a company my information saying that im interested in their service. I actually have to answer the phone and tell them im not longer interested, and to take me off their marketing list? Who would have thought this was at all possible

Show me where it is written that people MUST answer the phone?
