Just post your resume on CareerBuilders. I suppose it could be just coincidental, but right after posting my resume, I started getting deluged with calls not just from creepy job recruiters trying to put me in some low life job not even close to my profession, but also scammers and spammers from all over the country started ringing my phone. "Rachelle from card services" has been hounding me for years, but this went WAY beyond her. They know that being unemployed makes you more receptive to taking calls from unknown numbers, and they really exploit it.
For comparison, a few years ago I posted my resume on Indeed, and had no such problems
Also, you need to be very careful when applying for a job on line thru a 3rd party. Just by clicking on the "APPLY" button, you can opt yourself out of the DNC registry, and essentially agree to allow anyone to call you about anything.
It's disheartening to see so many businesses thrive solely on the basis of trickery and deceit.

Look at Caller ID. See a name or number you don't recognize. Pick up the call. Get a hang-up or a robo-voice talking to you. The spammers have succeeded in finding a "live number". As has been noted often here at 800notes, "live numbers" are marketed to still other spammers/scammers/phishers.
The rule of thumb from 800notes is: If you see a name or number on Caller ID, don't pick up the call! If your phone rings, no matter how aggravating it may be, let it ring itself out.
Good post. A search of the number usually leads you to 800 notes. What does that tell you about your caller? If you live in Maine & get a call from Arizona, but you know no one there, why would you call it back? Simple. Curiosity, that's what the crooks are counting on. So please! please! no matter how curious you are, do NOT phone the number back. Due diligence folks.
does your voice mail not pick up the call for you?? if /when your vm answers the call, you are again marked as a live number.... disheartening..... but true.. and as far as letting it ring out... swipe to ignore.. no need to aggravate yourself and those around you......
Yeah, you kinda missed the point. I wasn't asking for help or advice, just wanted to warn other users. About a week ago, I got a call from a Tucson number, and since I live in Phoenix, I almost didn't answer. But it turned out to be a prospective employer wanting to interview me, which I did, and got the job. This is what I meant about having to lower my defenses.
Regarding my second warning, in case anyone thought I was exaggerating, I lifted this from jobdiagnosis.com
"By checking the box below and clicking Submit Application, I consent to be contacted and messaged about education and other opportunities at the phone number above, including my mobile number if provided, utilizing automated technology that may contain pre-recorded messages even if registered on the national do not call list. I may be contacted by The Job Pack, Career Advisor, Online-edu-help.com and Joblur.com's partners.Consent is not required as a condition of using this service, and I may click here to avoid receiving calls. I also agree to the site's terms and conditions and privacy policy and in doing so understand All Inbox, LLC will be sending me daily emails."
Fortunately, I read this and applied directly from the employers website.
No, YOU are missing the point. All of us here have jobs or an income. Why don't you go peddle your job site to the truly in need of a regular job, ie, Rachel, scammers, outbound telemarketers who work in the boiler room, employees of PRA, GSA or similar.... Maybe you can help out your "friends" and prevent them from calling us.
Where did you get the idea he was advertising a website? If anything, his posts are warning against using particular job search websites because they make you opt in for email spam and telemarketing calls.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to kill the harassment caller criminal scum, but there is a way to attack their bottom line! These attempted robo calls are just boring since I took action to defeat them!
Don’t just complain – TAKE ACTION!!!
ONLY 1 of 87 scammers got thru my call blockers from 1 Jan thru 8 Apr 2015. You can get similar results. * last 10 robo calls

If enough people are fully informed on how to combat this scum, we can attack the financial bottom line of these criminals. * Customer SVCS/Consumer SVCS/Card SVCS is the worst and most prolific of the robo criminals and promises to reduce your interest rates. They target the poor, elderly, and uninformed. Anyone who gives personal info or credit card numbers loses hundreds to thousands of dollars!!!!! * MEDIC ALERT is the second worst of these criminal scammers. They also want personal info and credit card numbers!!! Don’t do it!!!
Here is a short history with the criminal robo scammers and how to defeat them. Hope this may be a help to anyone trying to defeat this criminal scum!!!! *****************************************************************************************************************
DEFEATING HARASSMENT AND ROBO CALLS
We had been receiving harassing robo telephone calls for months, but the number of calls per day finally exceeded our toleration levels. The telephone company was unable to block the calls because many of the harassment calls were being generated using a device called an ID spoofer which generates phony caller ID’s. The telephone solicitors are largely criminals, drug users, inmates, convicts, and scammers who refuse to follow federal no-call laws. The harassment calls, robo calls, telephone solicitors, political calls, Etc, are engaging in an “Act of War” by essentially taking over your telephone. * One of the options to defeat the harassment calls is to change to a new unlisted telephone number, but this would be giving-in to the harassment. It would also make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for legitimate callers, friends, and family from around the country from contacting you. Paying the telephone company for providing a call blocking service would be costly, limited, and time consuming. Legal action and call tracing by the phone company using back tracking through the local telephone switching matrix is possible for local origination calls. Other calls are more difficult to trace especially when caller ID spoofs are used to impede normal call tracing. There had to be a better option than a new unlisted phone number, and there is. * In talking to the police and the telephone company engineers/technicians, we found out about the technology that generates digital spoofing calls with phony Caller IDs from computer APPs. Research also showed call spoofing can be generated from smart phones, I-pads, computers, robo call devices, or any device with phone access and a spoofing application. Some devices will allow spoofing and also generate robo voice traffic. Additional indication of spoofing is the fact that the Caller IDs sometimes show your own phone # as the caller ID. The ID can also contain phony names, spelling errors, invalid #s, or non-existent area codes. * There is a way to combat these harassment/robo callers that has been over 95% successful. We spread the word by posting the following to 800notes.com/phone and other selected web sites each time a harassment/robo call is received. * HOW TO DEFEAT HARASSMENT/ROBO CALLS!! CALL BLOCKERS WORK! * Research a harassment/scam caller then post this msg every time a robo number calls. NEVER press X to opt out, and NEVER respond in any way because it just adds your name to multiple robo calling lists. * The federal no-call list is a joke - the government does nothing. The phone company wants the money from robo companies and will do nothing to stop the harassment/robo calls. Local police do not have the manpower or technology to track/block these calls. Most robo callers are criminals/drug addicts/scammers. Here is a one-time relatively low cost way to beat those harassment/robo calls. * We can defeat >95% of harassment and robo calls. Go on-line to Amazon and purchase an in-line "CPR CALLBLOCKER"! It has an inventory of up to 1200 numbers in the call blocker list. Be careful in setting up the list or you get unexpected blockages of valid incoming calls. Start by blocking all calls using caller ID’s of UNAVAILABLE, PRIVATE, or WITHHELD. Then block hot spot robo area codes which have NO friends or family – 201, 208, 212, 231, 239, 303, 304, 305, 307, 312, 321, 323, 331, 347, 359, 360, 401, 404, 478, 502, 505 ,513, 516, 518, 541, 565, 605, 608, 620, 630, 646, 650, 701, 708, 734, 740, 757, 772, 773, 779, 810, 815, 847, 918, 952, and 970. Finally, only block individual phone #s in area codes with friends and family. ONLY use 3 digit area codes, OR full 10 digit phone numbers. Never use 7 digit inputs to the blocking list or you WILL have problems! Keep a complete written list of area codes and individual blocking numbers. A small glitch when entering a number into the list can mess up your entire blocking list requiring a hardware reset and complete reprogramming of the list. * Harassment/robo callers frequently use a spoofing APP to create phony incoming caller ID’s on your phone. Hidden characters in a spoofed Caller ID’s number can sneak the robo call past some blockers. An optional secondary SENTRY BLOCKER with a 1000 entry blocker list ignores hidden characters and blocks/kills the call when it’s turned ON. SENTRY BLOCKER also effectively dumps any unmonitored robo callers. * There are many other brands of call blockers than the ones described. Choose yours and BLOCK THOSE HARASSMENT CALLS!!!!! * It is really great fun watching a call blocker/Caller ID recorder light-up then dump a call when the harassment/robo Caller ID matches the blocking list!!! One can especially enjoy it when the call blocker hangs up on a persistent harassment caller!!! * AN ACTUAL CALL HISTORY (Documented history starts with May 2014) May – 37 harassment calls Jun– 31 harassment calls –purchased and Installed CPR BLOCKER! Jul– 26 harassment calls with 7 auto blocked. Aug– 35 harassment calls with 23 auto blocked and 12 #s added to blocker list Sep– 38 harassment calls with 26 auto blocked and 10 #s numbers added to blocker list. CALL ZAPPER sends out a telephone office signal that the phone line is disconnected. Many auto scanning robo systems will then automatically remove the number from their calling list
CPR BLOCKER has list of up to 1200 entries for area codes and/or phone numbers. Upon detection of a block numbers the blocker hangs up all lines. All other calls are passed thru unless Sentry Blocker rejects/hangs up line.
SENTRY BLOCKER hangs up on all black listed phone numbers. White list numbers are passed thru for phone/answering machine. Non-listed numbers have blocking British/Spanish/German msg for solicitors to hang up, and tells other valid unlisted callers to dial zero to leave msg on answering machine - this auto blocks all unmonitored robo calls. Up to1000 entries in call list. When Sentry Blocker is OFF, all calls pass thru to phone/answering machine unless blocked by CPR BLOCKER.
HOME PHONE rings ONCE if CPR BLOCKER or SENTRY BLOCKER blocks call. Call rings thru if blockers are OFF or call is passed by blockers.
You bring up a good point; "does anyone ever read those agreements?" There was a film "Terms and Conditions May Apply" and a great South Park episode regarding the "automatic clicking" that we do.
