Not phone specific, but scam related, so I thought I'd post it for information. Well Mac users, welcome to the world of PC owners. However, here's the good news - (for some) - it's only when bit torrent software is used.
"Security researchers have discovered what they believe to be the first-ever ransomware attack targeted at Apple users that actually made it out "into the wild," meaning it's a genuine threat. And in bad news for downloading fiends, it's being spread through torrenting software.
The problem was first detected Friday, when a team of researchers at Palo Alto Networks found a popular BitTorrent client for Apple's OS X software for Macs that was infected with the ransomware, which they have dubbed "KeRanger." The BitTorrent software in question is Transmission, which Mac users can install on Apple's OS X operating system and then use to access shared files in so-called torrent swarms (which, let's not lie, is usually pirated content). Badge,

Thanks for posting this! Yes, earlier this morning my local news covered this in one segment. Apparently the scum behind ransomware as well as other malicious garbage they throw at us has recently found a way to include Mac's now! :(

I saw about this. At least Mac/Apple users can't claim they're invulnerable anymore.

At least the smarter ones who don't use bit torrent software won't have to worry! ;)

However, any Mac/Apple users who do have to beware ... seeing how the ransomware seems to exploit that particular vulnerability.

I cannot say I am all that surprised. People think iOS is invincible and I believe that any popular OS is vulnerable. Granted the chances might be lower, but I still believe anything can happen.
