Getting calls back from local numbers and people claim i called them?

So I've had a few people call and leave me a voicemail stating I called them and didn't leave a voice mail. It's been sporadic so I've never thought much of it until recently. I've double checked my call log, I most definitely never called them and its my personal cellphone number so I always have it.

Is it possible that someone is spoofing my phone number? Should I be worried?

I had the same thing.  Someone has spoofed your number,In my case it was my cell phone.  I called many of them back from my landline and asked them to block the number.  This went on for over three months.

They have called our home claiming that we owe the IRS back payment.
I have submitted the dates and times to my District Attorneys Office.
I also recorded the robot message, and  a phone number was left for us to return the call.

Interesting.    The OP didn't list the number so how do you know you received a call from it?

You need to save those links for a new Mirror Spoof thread. The OP's report does not say that a spoofer has transmitted the recipient's own phone number. This sounds like a spoof victim's number being sent via Caller ID to others in the same region, which I like to dub the "Nearby Spoof", a tactic existing longer than the Mirror type.

Everyone is rude online, so don't worry about key board warriors.
Just tell the people who receive calls from your number to block it.

One evening, I had a angry mother call me, she demand I stop Harassing her daughter. Well, I didn't make any call to anyone that day. I told her I did not call anyone, I ask her what number did I allegedly called, or her daughter name so I can check my phone. she immediately hang up.

I understand why she hang up. My guess is my number got spoof, her daughter was getting the spoofed calls. There is gotta be a way to anti-spoof the spoofer.

These are the reasons why I tell people not to call strange numbers they do not recognize back and to not post peoples information they find on the net through search since they are creating a second victim to call spoofing.. your not alone and these things have been in the news!  Unfortunately people fail to read or listen to the news..

Edit to add: folks reading this thread.. teach your relatives and friends this.. its just as important to not become a victim twice over. And report these calls!!!!

Something similar happened to me a few years back. I got the local police involved, spoofing wasn't common knowledge to them or me but it's what introduced me to 800notes.
    Welcome!!

Constructive criticism almost always sounds rude! Failure to read the sites instructions and regulars repeating the same instructions get frustrating and very old after awhile especially when folks fail to read consistently or ignore the post right above theirs. In your case, I suspect the forum cyber stalking troll.. he who likes to pot stir in every little opportunity, crack and crevice he can possibly sniff out of the gutter and for some baseless made up grievance.
