Wisconsin: Register by Dec. 1 to Keep Telemarketers Away

Wisconsin Officials are encouraging residents to make sure their telephone numbers are on the state's Do Not Call list by Dec. 1 to avoid telemarketing calls.

According to Glen Loyd, a DATCP spokesman, once someone registers their number on the list it is good for two years, but after that the number falls off the list and is open to telemarketers.

While there is also a national Do Not Call list, Loyd recommends that state residents still put their number on the Wisconsin list.

"They're two different things. The Wisconsin list is much tougher than the national one," he said.

To register a phone number residents can visit the Wisconsin "No Call" Web site (https://nocall.wisconsin.gov) or call 1-8666-9No-Call (1-866-966-2255).
