I recently activated my home phone, so no one knows about this # but me and the phone company. This caller started to call on the third day making frequent calls within 10 -15 minutes from each other. I finally decided to pick up and answer. A guy said that they are doing a research and collecting opinions about products and services. By that time I was very angry with this company, and asked them to never call again and remove my phone number from their list. He apologized and hung up.
Caller: Research Company

I recieved phone calls from this number last week. The person is always asking for someone different everytime they call, after i already expressed to them that they have the wrong number. And they call back every 10-15 minutes as well. I don't think it's someone prank calling me. I think that is away for the feds to tap in on certain phone conversations. Wake Up People because it can be done.

If you receive a call from 1-000-000-0000, realize this:  it is a FAKED OUT telephone number (using a technique called SPOOFING).

Anyway, it's not just ONE person/organization calling.  It could be anybody.  Consequently, there's probably not much point in contributing further to the notes for this # in a vain attempt to figure out who it is.

Have the good sense to just NOT answer it and be done with things.  Many people have phone service that allows you to block specific numbers; this would be a good one to add to that list.

Absolutely correct!!! There is no such number as all zeros. This number is made up and sent by unscrupulous jerks who want to scam you. They are Spoofing you as FLR said by providing a fake phone number thru your Caller ID which many internet sites now sell. Search "spoof caller ID" on Google and you will see it. Never answer any of these calls and block them if you can. All US area codes begin with a 2 thru 9. There are no numbers starting with 0 or 1 except some int'l numbers. So unless you know someone in another country all calls starting with 0 or 1 are bogus.

I received a call from 000-000-0000....and it was Bell Canada Customer Service....calling me back on a complaint I made regarding my unlisted number being published on Canada411.....I believe your statement regarding no such number as all zeros is incorrect...

It's been rumoured that Bell Canada sold their Customer Service contracts to a company in India and/or Pakistan. If you have any problems with the phone service your likely to get a call from this region 1-000-000-0000.
Another reason why people are switching from Bell.

IF THE TEL COMPANY IS TELLING YOU THAT THERE IS NO SUCH NUMBER AS ALL ZEROS THEY ARE FULL OF IT BECAUSE THAT SAME NUMBER CALLS HERE ALSO.

Dr- No, there is no such number. What they do is, they go to a website that specializes in spoofing caller ID. So, for example, if their number is: 200-000-0001. Then what they do is they tell the company how they want the number to show instead of the above example. Its a blanket over the actual number. In this case, 000-000-0000

I received a bunch of calls from this number during the summer of '07. Usually no one left a message. One time I finally answered one of the calls. It turned out to be the Romney Campaign to notify me of a local campaign event. I told the caller that it really disappointed me and lowered my opinion of this campaign that they would feel the need to "hide" their identity on caller ID by using a bogus number.  I requested that they not call back; they honored my request.  I never received another call from them.

FYI if you block the 000-000-0000 it may block any imcoming unrecognized numbers.  I have tried to clock it on several occasions and it unfortunately blocks other numbers as well.  I just dont pick up the phone.

Okay, pretty sure that I am not liking the reality of these messages which I already knew but I recieved call from 000 000 0000, it was a survey to win some cruise.  As I went through the survey, the questions seemed pretty inocent. However, a couple of them now that I think back at the questions I am very uncomfortable about answering them.  As in my postal code, (not address) and if I am a homeowner...have you have heard of deed stealing..? I've received calls from this number before never bothered to pick up, don't know what was wrong with me this time. ONE MESSAGE TO ALL..pretty sure not the feds, if they are watching you they do not call you at home and pretend they are someone from Bell Canada or a survey to win a cruise but there has to be an motive behind these calls none of which are any good....don't pick up the phone don't answer any more questions. DEFINETLY do not give out bank account or credit card numbers to anyone over the phone. Live and learn. I know I learned a powerful leason tonight, if it dosen't feel right hang up, follow your instincts and you will never get burnt...

The feds do not need to ring your phone to tap it.  If they taped it, chances are you would never find out.

It seems everyone here has the same issue.  What concerns me why isn't anything been done.?  Just to keep posting on here seems a waste of time because everyone has the same issue and nothing is being done.  We all know by now that the phone number 000-000-0000  is a bunch of bull.  What l did and is the best thing.  I programmed my caller ID with a prerecorded messaged telling them to kiss off.  I read one time in a consumer book someone put out it said do this if you want  telemarketers to stop calling.  What they suggested is the following.  (This only works if there is someone on the line). When these people start giving you their pitch say to them the following and l guarantee you they will not call back.  ASK THEM WHAT COLOR UNDERWEAR THEY ARE WEARING. It is as simple as that.  I have had a 95% hang up rate and no more return calls.  It may sound crazy but it works think about it.  It will work.

I have been receiving this bogus hangup caller with the number:
000-000-0000 since January.  I don't know what to do to get rid of these jerks, but I wish someone would tell me.  They hangup as soon as I answer the telephone.  I have too many things to do in this business to fool with this annoyance.

I'm a kid that was left fome for a few hours and suddenly I got a call
from (000)000-0000! I always ignore phone calls but listen to the messages after so I checked the messages and there were NO new messages so I checked the old ones and none were from 000-000-0000!!!!
I was so scared I phoned my mom and she said "Lucky I wasn't there or I WOULD have answered..."
My best advice is...
DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE IF 000-000-0000 SHOWS ON CALLER ID!!!!!!!

I have been getting 5 to 6 of these phone calls a day from 1-000-000-0000, I answered one and no one talks, nothing. They never leave a message. This is annoying, especially since I have been getting numerous political recordings also for the "other" party.

Yea I got two or three different calls from 000-000-0000  at different times this past year and again today. I tried calling it and I get the AT&T operator recording so obviously who ever called with that number today was spoofing their number.

Oh weird, no sooner than I typed that last message, phone rings again, same number, and silence. I said Hello? then I said Please take my number off your list. I don't do business with people who spoof their numbers." then I heard the phone clicking off.

And wouldn't you know it, freaked me out and I forgot to ask "what color is your underwear?"

MAN!!

Just don't answer. Another one of humanity's endless annoyances in the modern world. Like the TV weather people who spread endless fear and anxiety over the chance it's going to rain/snow/sleet/hail/blow/get cold/get hot/get too dry/get too wet, somewhere sometime tomorrow.

In most cases your phone number is not new, it is recycled. Meaning, someone had your phone number in the past. The only way to be sure your phone number hasn't been used before, is to ask the local phone company to provide a number that hasn't been provided to someone in the past. Which now a days is difficult to do.
