Just another Collection Agency. Told them I didn't have anything but they don't give up.

Got a call on my land-line from (866) 617-7495 - they failed to leave a message - caller ID simply said "Toll Free" - I called them back from my cell phone (which I'm thinking of giving up, so don't care about spam calls) - the recording said I had reached "Northwest Group" - 'a debt recovery agency' - then I was referred to a website of www.northland.com - which turns out to be a real estate investment firm.  

I called back from the land line and a recording said my caller id indicated I was a known client and asked me to enter my account number - which, obviously I didn't have - and if I did not know it to enter my social secuirity number.  GREAT BIG - HUGE - RED FLAG ! ! !  

The system gave no other options so I kept pressing Zero unti I connected with a live human.  A man answered and said they were the Northwest Group.  I gave him the number I was calling from (which he probably already knew, from the caller id) and then told the man that the person they were seeking did not live at this number.  

After I hung up I realized that I really DID know who they were trying to reach - just not by that name - - Just as well, as the whole thing sounds like an ID Theft Scam.  It all looked very suspicious to me, so I googled all three leads and none indicated the REAL source of the call.  I suspect the bogus website is a ploy to get the would-be-victim to shrug and go away - if I had given them my social secuity number I'd bet my ID would have been stolen.

GREAT BIG SCAM! These are the bottom dwellers of the debt collection business!

Correction to my previous - the website given was www.northlandaccounts.com - I tried it as northlandaccount.com and northlandaccounts.com - both invalid pages - so I googled ""northland group" debt collection" and top of the list was Northland Group / Professional Collection Agency at www.northlandgroup.com but right below it was this next "hit"

In short - I'm very glad I blew them off - check the above links (you may have to copy and paste) for the sickening details on how this company operates.

I called this number back, and i got a recording that said that it was the northland group. And that my phone number matched one or more account numbers in their office and to put in my account number and if i didnt know it then put in my social security number. RULE NUMBER ONE! Never put in the social security number. ask to talk to a real person! BIG HUGE SCAM! They are credit card collectors, and when i talked to a human i told them that the debt had been paid off in full 2 years ago and that i had proof. they called me a liar, and told me that if i didnt want to pay my bills, fine, but that i would be going to court against them. How can we stop these bottomfeeders of debt collectors from this verbal abuse?

here is another number these people keep calling my land line 545-7298. Have no clue what they want and can not get them to leave me alone.

Northland Group calling about a debt. They are also calling a business line which they should not have. They refuse to leave a message if the call is declined.

NGI uses the phone as a blunt instrument. Best to define "inconvenient contact" for them via Certified Mail, then sue for relief after they ignore the warning.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

This is not scam or a red flag, this is a legitimate debt collection agency. They collect for OneMain Financial and other companies. They do their best to work with you and they are one of the few that I have not been intimidated by. If you do not wish to speak to someone they have a website that you can login to and can communicate with them that way. They have allowed us to settle our debt for 40% of the amount owed and are allowing us to pay it in six month increments, very nice and easy to work with.

Its obvious you read the other posts and are only here to shill for this outfit. Why are you trying to convince call victims they should allow themselves to be scammed?

Is attempting to trick anyone reading this thread that when a scammer like one of them calls, that you should answer. These shills always act like the calls did wonderful things for them or something drastic happened, so you believe it will happen to you too.  They are telling you lies about their calls because they want you to let them try scamming you.
The site is designed to allow people to alert / warn others of fraudulent phone calls by sharing their call experience, so why would  anyone need to be alerted or warned about legitimate callers?

Wow, that is one of the better fairy tales I have read around here!  You almost had me convinced, but then I woke up from the dream and realized that pretty much everything you posted was a lie.  This outfit is well known for breaking every collection law they can to steal money from people who do not owe them one penny and are not behind on their bills.
