- HBSS Law replies to BiscuitVerizon customers are charged for receiving text messages sent to MiFi or other USB-based wireless internet devices, even though the devices lack a screen with which to view the messages. Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, a law firm based in Seattle, has filed a lawsuit against Verizon on this issue and wants to hear from consumers who have used the MiFi and been charged for spam or other unwanted text messages. - TORII replies to AtlantaGirlI Do not live in the states, i live in the CNMI, and i get these texts to! Here we do not have a Verizon, and i use IT&E, and some of my texts claimed these were from IT&E, but i doubt they could do that. My point being it might not be Verizon, because, well, I'm being sent texts too? How would they get my number? I mean, what sort of cell phone company would send you texts like "your in a coma! please wake up!" (this is what iv'e been sent)
- RDK replies to infoThis is correct.
If you send to the phone number 123-456-7890@vtext.com, their reply will show "0000006245" on the Verizon text billing.
I just tried it with my own phone. - JINCHASTOP.......

- Rob| 1 replyI have added "Friends and Family" to my Verizon Account. The additional phone number that I added at that time is the line that is getting THOUSANDS of these every month. They are most always late at night and into the early morning hours.
There is no record on the phone of these calls being received and/or replied to. The Account Summary from Verizon shows both ... the call coming in and then a response being returned.
The 'Helpful" (not) Verizon person that we spoke to about this said that it was the "Facebook" account that was receiving and then sending an auto-response. The program was removed from the phone and that was to take care of the problem. It didn't . The phone number has been changed. That didn't do it. The Phone memory has been cleared. That didn't fix it. The number just keeps showing up .... by the thousands. I am at a loss as to what to do. We are fortunate that we have 'Unlimited Texting" so there has been no charge for these. HOWEVER .... if this is someone else who has received access to our phone number and/or account I would love to see them caught and penalized for the action.
Out next step is the go to a different Verizon location and see what they tell us.
This is TOTALLY out of hand and whatever is the cause needs to be discovered so that Verizon can help people better manage their accounts.- Caller: Verizon Wireless
- Peanut replies to TENNESSEEGUY| 1 replyIf you read your contract with Verizon, it will tell you part of your service includes text messaging and how much it costs. It is as much a part of your service as your voice calls. Verizon does not ask you if your want voice calls, do they? Why should they ask if you want text messaging?
- asdf replies to Sweetiebut do the messages you send show up on your phone bill?
- shortyscI have been getting text messages from different numbers@vtext.com and when i see them on my bill it is the 6245 number. Not just 5 or 6 but like 30 different numbers and they start at 5 am all the way till 11 pm isn't it so nice that i can't even block them cuz they are not premium messages and i have a text package so it would be stupid to block texting changed my number same thing still happening thinking about switching carriers
- BabygirlI saw this on my bill as well, they were sent messages from my husbands phone so I ws going to check them later to see who they went to but then I decided to check my own phone on Verizon and under texts it says I also sent messages to this number so I looked in my phone to see who I dent texts to at that time. I sent texts to my father at that time and day. I dont know why it showed that it was sent to 0000006245 instead of his phone number like always so dont freak out before you know who these messages were sent to.
- watch dog replies to LatinmomThe -6245 are sms text messages sent from a computer (email) or instant messenger to a mobil phone, and visa versa.

- Annoyed mom not rec. textsI just added a new line for my son on our family plan last week. I monitor the usage closely with a preteen and teen in the house. I saw on our usage that my son, the new line, was texting to 6245. I asked him what it was, he didn't know. Then I looked at his actual phone, and he was sending me texts. I looked at my phone, I never received texts from him at those specific times. It's been frustrating. It's been happening almost everyday that he sends me messages and one or two random messages that he sends to me goes to this 6245. It doesn't make any sense when he is using the numbers programmed from his contact list. He thinks I'm getting the messages as there isn't an error message, his phone says it sent. He sends them to me and I don't respond, I don't get them, causes an argument that doesn't need to happen! Very frustrsating when he needs to tell me something, where he is, when to pick up from somewhere, etc. This is only happening with his line. Verizon was clueless when I asked. His phone is a Samsung Intensity. Any other similiar stories?

- Shik123My sister got a text from a 4-digit number (6245) saying she had won $375,000 and a Blackberry BOLD9900. it said to email bbpclaimsdept@dorak.ca in order to claim and included a Ref#, BBP/63/0212 ... First we checked out Dorak.ca and saw that it was a family's website but also provided email addresses. Even before this, we new this was all a scam. But we are just stupid teens so through one of my unused email addresses, we sent an email to them asking how we may claim this prize. I then got a long reply about how we were randomly selected a winner through a worldwide mobile IMEI computer draw system out of 165,000 unions blah blah blah. Then it asked to file the claim by replying with your full name, winning phone number, mailing address, country of birth, email addresses, age, and the Ref# that was included in the text. The email closed of with "Yours faithfully, Sonia Smith. Tel: +44-701-113-8042. Blackberry Promotion Claims Department." Mind you, we live in Canada and our company is Bell Mobility, and that 701 number is from North Dakota, USA.

Is this number only generated when it comes from an email or GMAIL account and would you HAVE to know that person's email address or is there cell number all you need?
