Whenever a call comes in that we do not recognize as one of our regular contacts, we just look at the caller id and ignore.
Later, we go into our Verizon settings and add the number to the call block list. One of the problems that allows people to get scammed by crooks is that one should remember that if you have not entered into any sweepstakes, or applied for any credit, or shopped at any store (whether online, or in person) where you applied for their card or gave your email or phone number, then you are going to be scammed, spammed, and/or conned, for maybe all of the above.

The rule of thumb is that you know whether or not you have requested contact with the number that is calling or not.  If it is not family, work, business related, emergency from your doctor or hospital, "Do not pick up" or answer.

When you answer the phone, you are confirming that your phone number is a valid number.  When you select the option in an email for them to remove your name from their list, this allows them to remove your name from one of their lists and pass you on to another of their lists or list of associates.  In other words, you are setting yourself up for indefinite contact from a multitude of partners. If ignored, eventually they will go away.  It may even take up to a year, but eventually they do go away, because your phone number of email is not a prospective investment of their time.

Also, if you allow it to go to voicemail, that too, assures them that your number is valid as you have pick up message on your voicemail. By doing this, you allow them to harass you via voicemail as well, even though this is voicemail, eventually, this will become full and you will not be able to get important messages left in your voicemail.  Just ignore the call.

Just received a call from this  number on my SKYPE line.  I immediately blocked it.  They did not leave a message but apparently did not disconnect correctly at first because there was unintelligible background noise - possibly a small office setting - it was difficult to tell.  No one said anything.

[***] called and left voicemails only saying hello and then silent for like 3 minutes, a bit of talking in the background, sounded like indian accent.
Voicemail got messed up, icon won't disappear from notification bar. Visual voicemail won't sync anymore.

Best part of having a Panasonic land line phone is the ability to block unwanted calls. Once blocked it rings once and then stops.

I just got a call from the 100000000 number and my fiance has been getting calls from them all week and they always ask about his Microsoft on his PC which to their dismay he always tells them " I don't own a PC, remove me from your list" and they usually just hang up, well today I got the call. I answered and the guy with his Indian accent said "Yes, hello Maam i am calling today about your microsoft on your PC" so i immediately said "oh i apologize sir, we do not own a PC" to which he replied "F**K you maam" which I thought maybe he was saying "thank you" so i actually asked "are you saying F**K you??" and he replied "yes, F**k you"  so yeah...wow!

This bizarre number has called my house twice today.  Once at 1:16 and then again at 3:15.  I did NOT answer.  Any number like that has to be a scam.  Anyone know who it is supposed to be from?  Or even who it IS from?  Time to ditch the landline--the numbers are getting stranger.

Pity there isn't some way of tracking them down and then suing the daylights out of them.  That is inexcusable!
