After reading ovre all these posts, and getting a call from this number, I did a google search and came up with this, I want to help everyone else getting these calls.

Federal Protection for Debtors as set by the FEDERAL government. These callers are in violation of many statues of the FDCPA. Threaten to report them for violating federal law and see how fast they stop calling. Ask for their name, the company name, phone number(s), and supervisor's name.

As a note, look at sections 806 and 807. Harassment and misrepresentation. Use federal law (and the US Code is given in the margins) against them.

Just noticed there was yet ANOTHER message from "Alex" at Cawley & Bergmann on the landline number from last week. This time, he stated that I "have to get in contact with this office today", and went on to say "we have to know if you have a lawyer representing you regarding a file placed with this office."

The number given was different from the previous messages, but the same extension. The landline called is not associated in any way with what they claim I owe, and hardly anyone calls it to begin with. So now they're looking at yet another third-party disclosure violation, no mini-miranda, and now they can add threatening legal action they are not allowed to take, along with intimidating/coercive tactics. So we're up to nine or ten violations from them all told. I will be contacting a lawyer this week and taking the fight to them. I wasn't lying when I said I'd done my homework...

Received a call from 201-461-0023 which was my cell, can I speak to _____ (my husband)? I stated he is busy right now. Called stated this is an emergency - I totally went crazy being a mother and hearing this is an emergency my heart sank. I asked what this is about - oh I cannot discuss it with you. I then put it together and then yelled at the person calling saying you cannot do something like that saying it is an emergency. Person stated that we owed a charge card bill from 2009 - my husband advised him he was not aware and we have a recent credit report showing no accounts open under the charge card in question, my husband asked for documentation we provided 2 emails. Of course nothing came over. Person in question called back and asked again for my husband and he stated well your husband said he would call me back. I said he will call you back one you email the documentation. Oh you did not get the email - really - I will file a complaint against this company.

I received a call from a Male today stating I owed a Credit Card debt at least (8yrs) old. He asked for my checking acct routing info or a debit card information. He told me I had 20mins to give him the info or I would be headed to court with a lawsuit. This is my first phone conversation with him....I'm startled!!!

Emails and Faxs are not legally acceptable validation of a debt.  Demand validation via usps mail.  They then have 5 days to get it to you and you have 30 days after receipt to dispute it.

Do NOT give your personal financial information over the phone to ANYONE you do not dial.  They can empty your account before you get off the phone.

These people are calling my 11 year old daughter and harassing her

they used to call me ever every day i pick up and hang up right  away this is the only way they will not leave stupid messages or talk to me now they dont call anymore

have her pick up and hang up  at the same time that is the only way , cause  when you talk to them the will keep on calling

We got a new phone number from Comcast, and it has been ringing at least once per day from this debt collection office.  Apparently Bergmann Cawley is showing their aggressiveness to debt holders (perhaps billing them by the call), without disclosing that the numbers they are calling are no longer owned by the people the debt is owed by.  People who don't pay their bills lose their phone numbers.   The number gets reassigned to someone like us, and Bergmann Cawley probably has no incentive to tell the debt holder that they are trying to collect against a person that doesn't have this phone number any more.

get calls and threats everyday. been paying the original creditor for a year now. funny only one debt is listed under them, same company. i will send the money directly to original creditor. might take longer but still shows coming off my credit report. also i send m/i, no bank info

I use to work for them . its a collections office trying to fake being an attorneys office. They are scum from ownership to management. Dont pay them they dont sue.... Its a smokescreen to scare you. They treat thier employees like [***] and scare them to collect money. TOTAL BULLYS!

Received a call from Cawley Bergmann.  This is a fictitious collection company/law firm.  They were fined by the US Supreme Court in 2011 & 2012 for erroneous collection claims.  Please do not give your information to this company;

just got a call from this company they asked me if I was who I was and I said yes then for security purposes they wanted to know my address and last 4 numbers of my social security after I refused to give them that info they kept repeating the same questions over and over and I kept telling them I wont give out that info until he told what this was about he wouldn't do that so finally I said Ill check and verify if this company is legit and he hung up

Just an update for those of you recently experiencing the same problem mentioned in previous posts - they also use the number (201) 292-8361, claiming it is a personal matter.  Watch out for that one too!

This C & B LLP outfit spoofed the Caller ID on a call to me from 310-736-3597 for someone they were looking for. Top line says "NFL network" which is a blatant spoof unless that number actual was the NFL Network.
