- Holly| 8 repliesI have gotten two calls from a man who says he is a Special Agent named Steven Novak from the DEA and that I must call him immediately. Called back after reading the scams I read on another site. He was apparently in a meeting. If he calls back he has something coming is all I have to say. He used the # 202-239-8343 at ext. 1131
Be warned it is a scam!!!- Caller: District of Columbia DEA
- Mike-in-MD replies to Holly| 1 replyDo call the number on the DEA website and report this.
http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm - Holly replies to Mike-in-MDNo worries I sure did call and report it. In fact this so called Special Agent Steven Novak called me back and threatened me because I called his bluff and then he hung up on me. I was very rude to him and it felt great! I hope they catch that [***]!
- TerriA guy called me saying I had an arrest Warrant for ordering medicine online and that was illegal. He wanted me to take $1853 to a place he would tell me later as a fine to stop the arrest. I should not tell anybody. I called my husband anyways and I did not answer the two calls I received after that
- JohnsonSame same..... contacted my daughter saying he was with the DEA (Detective HARRAH). What a knob. Informed her that for $1600 they would drop all charges. When I asked for clarification, he stammered and said to "get a lawyer". Sound advice from someone who will likely need one in the near future.

- CpGot a call from this number, went to vm.. Lengthy message with constant use of my last name. Dea.. Blah blah. I've been called once before (by a different number) and it scared me but the private investigator side of me did some research. Big extortion scam! I recommend playing along and getting an address "to mail a check" and then leaving that address on the DEA extortion line. If these degenerates spent half the time working as they do scamming they'd be financially set!

- AnonymThis happened once before from another number. When he called today, I just picked up and didn't say anything for a minute, then said "don't call here again" because I get a lot of telemarketing calls. Then, he called again and didn't leave a message. When I called back to tell him again not to call me, the voice mail said it was such and such from DEA Investigations. These people are pretty good at scaring you. Last time they really scared us but didn't ask for money, which surprised me. That made it seem more legitimate. They said there would be agents at our door with a search warrant and a warrant for my arrest in 10 minutes, and that we should get a lawyer. But I did call the DEA and they said that it was a scam, and to ignore the calls. Among other things, they said that if the DEA were planning to search our place, they wouldn't warn us ahead of time :-) I also called the local police and found out that there were no warrants in my name.
I hate these people.- Caller: DEA Investigations
- Huda replies to HollyI got the same call many times but he claimed to be an officer of the IRS. Being a retired officer, I gave him a piece of my mind. This is the number he called me from 202 241-6854, this is a magic jack number so I think we owe it to Magic Jack to know what is going on.

- BrendaReceived a call (went to voice mail) from 202-239-8343. Listened to voice mail -- said internal revenue service has placed an arrest warrant in my name for trying to defraud the federal government. For more information to return the call. Did so --- reached a man with an Indian (from India) accent. He recited my previous mailing address (10 years ago) but with an incorrect apartment number. Meanwhile I'd googled the telephone number and reached a site with many alerts regarding "phone scams" from this telephone number. Frightening and unnerving to receive this kind of a message. Angering, too.
- Caller: Internal Revenue Service
- annoyed| 2 repliesThis man stated he is from the IRS and is investigating a fraud that I committed to the IRS and this is a final attempt to contact me. He called twice within a hour. Well I hope that's it as I refuse to call back this is a scam. The number he called from is 202-239-8343

- MZ replies to MZHeh - just called them back via Skype for the hell of it. Asked the (Indian) man if his mother knew he was a thief. He said "Yes, of course!". I said "Well, I'm sure she's very proud of you!" and hung up.
- Steve replies to Laurie BeckThe next time "Dean" calls, as him how Frank, Sammy, Joey and the rest of the Rat Pack is doing, HAHAHAHA...couldn't resist. I got a number of those calls. I just have fun with them. Once I pretended I didn't speak much English and faked an accent worse than the guy on the phone. Another time I identified myself as a US Treasury Agent and demanded his IRS ID number and what IRS office he was calling from - he told me it was the United States IRS Office and immediately hung up. I called them back another 5-6 times demanding names, ID numbers and what their Division Code was. I got these bozos so rattled the stopped answering my calls and I didn't hear from them for 6 months. My favorite, however, was when they called and asked for me by name. I told them to hold on and said, "Yeah, he's still here." They wanted to speak to me directly, So I said, "Nobody's talking to him unless they got a Quija Board." and announced that this was the county morgue and would someone be coming down to claim the body.
- mtenGot call from this number saying they were from IRS and I had filed fraud with them. I hung up on them. Was a man but caller ID showed Aleisha Jones.
