Opinion pollers are allowed to call cell phones now, they generally buy laege blocks of numbers from the cell phone carriers.

Funny...I am yet another person who received a phone call from them about 10 minutes ago.  I didn't answer, but thanks to your help the mystery is solved.  I also am a Chicago resident...although my cell phone number area code is based in Davenport, Iowa.

I got the same call asking me about Wal-Mart.  It came to my cell phone.

I just got what I think was a "push-poll" about building a Wal-mart at 83rd & Seward.  Basically, it only asked one question (a true sign of a political push-poll) and was heavily weighted in language towards Wal-mart and Mayor Daley.  It was something similar to the following:  "Mayor Daley says that a Wal-mart at 83rd & Seward would bring 500+ jobs to the city and make fresh food available to the neighborhood, others believe jobs are not enough, Press 1 if you believe a Wal-mart should be allowed to be built or Press 2 if you believe it should not."

I just got the same call on a 773 number.  I did not pick up and I could not get through to anyone when I called it back.

I'll join the chorus.  They just called me 5 minutes ago.  I have  a 312 cell number and moved from Chicago earlier this year.  When I answered all I heard was license.  Thank goodness for google.  I to am on the do not call list.
