I had the same call this morning around 4:15

I missed a call from +1-202-455-8888 on 12/02/2020 at about 1:35am. I didn't give my number to anyone in the USA nor having any friends or relations over there. I expected the number to call back but it didn't up till now.

scammer needs to be prosecuted.

I received this number, but did not answer.

I received a call from this number this morning.  The call was from Google Voice, used to verify a forwarding number.  If any of you are users of Google Voice this may explain some of the calls.

why would this number try to call me in the middle of the night? +1 202-455-8888
are they scammer? or is this fraud? how did they get my number?

I do get text msg and calls from Google but I have never seen a
DC #.  If I have not id'd the # previously, I let it go to voice.  Two calls, each following the other makes me suspicious.  They left no msg.

My 16 year old grandson got a phone call from this number. Does it have anything to do with porno?

Repeats numbers, calls a lot, leaves voicemails.

This actually is a legitimate number for obtaining a so-called "two-step" verification code from Google.  However, it also appears that this number is being spoofed quite often for scams.  If you've signed up for two-step verification of a Google account, you will probably see this number appear.  If you haven't, it's probably being spoofed.

Unknown caller from Washington DC on my cell this morning. No message but a verification code was texted right after the call. I do not know why or what it is for.  I have marked this number as spam

At 1:30 in the morning, I received two text messages a minute apart, each with a six-digit "Google verification code". Then a minute later, I received a phone call from this number. I didn't answer it. I didn't sign up for any Google services, and quite frankly, nothing legitimate happens at 1:30am. I suppose someone is trying to hack into my Google account, but I don't save any Wallet info in the account, so they'll be disappointed.

Seen it on my phone when asking for a google verification code. Call was blocked by my app.

The only reason you're getting this call is you either signed up for Google Two Step Verification or someone else did and messed up when they entered their phone number, it only takes one digit mistake. Anyone who signs up for this will know it since they won't be able to sign in to their Google account unless they enter the number code that's given. Only other possibility is someone else is trying to login to your Google account but won't be able to without the code, but still you'd know since you have to set this up by giving Google your phone number first.
Don't ever give out any information about yourself, credit cards, checking account numbers etc. to anyone who calls you,  all banks/credit unions I've dealt with will never call you asking for this info.

Same # came up for me to today & it was google

This number rang at my home at 1952 last night.  I do not answer unknown numbers.  I recognized the 202 area code.  I have no contacts there, so will never answer

Missed a call from this number on my cell; voicemail had message providing a 'verification code', but it hadn't stared recording until after any identification of caller. Caller ID said 'Washington DC'. Looking at the many other reports, I see that this is fake (or spoofed) Google-- get 'em all the time, but usually the fake location is some small town in our area. Pretty tiresome.
