IRS Scam call

Nightly call about 9:00 PM.

It's the Democratic National Committee.  They have me on record as having donated in the past.  It was a hard sell, they wanted fifty bucks, and when I hesitated because we don't have it right now, he wanted to take my debit number and delay the charge until after the date I specified.  I told him I don' do things that way, mistakes get made and charges go through and then I'm holding the bag.  He was very genial, sounded a lot like Giancarlo Esposito, but he had that salesman edge.  I finally told him to send an envelope or forget it.  The envelope arrived yesterday.

Called claiming to be from the DNC and asking for $100 donation. When I said I didn't want to contribute, asked rudely for $50 and then hung up on me when I still said no.

It is a scam identified by the IRS.

I got the first call coming from that number, yesterday at 11.30 pm and did not answer
tonight at 11.00 pm the same number called me again.

Have received calls, various times, days. No voice mails.

Received a few calls, from this number as well as a few others - this most recent call came in at 11:20 PM

Multiple calls over the past month with never a message left. Now added to the Blocked Calls list.

Got a call from this number and did not answer-no message left.  Within 1 minute received another call from 202 580-8685 with the IRS scam left on our voice mail. Obviously these calls are being made from the same back room and if you don't answer one number they'll try to get you to answer a different one!  Don't answer and don't engage these creeps!!!

This number is still calling one or two times a day.  For us, it's supposedly the Democratic Party wanting donations.  However, this number has been reported as an IRS scam call as recently as March 17, 2015, so it's probably always an attempt to defraud in one way or another.

We do get legitimate calls from the DNC and DCCC from other numbers, but this one is probably not really the Democratic party.  It could be another scheme by the opposition party to get people pissed off at the Dems.  In any case, we wouldn't give money to ANYONE on the phone.

We finally blocked this bad number and don't even know when they call unless we look at the 'recent calls' list on the phone menu.

Thanks- I thought it was a fishing call, I have had some version of this number calling and knew it was a scam.. the number that called me was 1-202-470-0159. Some version of Middle East dialect I beleive; calling saying that it was the IRS and was delinquent on taxes.. I hung up and looked up the number to see if there were other complaints.

Folks - DO NOT ANSWER DISTANT OR UNIDENTIFIED CALLS - THEY ARE ALWAYS SCAMS!

Received a call July 13 from a man with a Middle Eastern or Indian accent who left a message.  Same message we got months ago (several times) stating he was from the US Treasury wanting to talk to my husband about money he owed.  He also states a fictional case number.  Caller ID shows a Washington D.C. number.  I don't talk to them and have reported the calls.

I am having a problem with this number as well, But this person is claiming to say his name is David Thomas from the IRS but is not fluent in  English , saying they want to start a lawsuit on me and will report me to the courthouse.. I tried talking to him yesterday, and I asked him if there was someone else I could speak to cause I could not understand him, he got mad and told me to F*** off, and I hung up on him.
And this morning I got another missed call from this number, but no voicemail.
A major scam!!
My advise is; if he calls you again see if he has a Badge number and you can report him on the IRS main website, the site even warns there are scammers.

Its a scam..someone claiming top be from the IRS and that you owe or something.
Ignore it. If you do owe from last yr, try talking to them and get as much info on that person as you can before they hang up, like their full name and badge number..if they are from the IRS they should have a badge umber..and if they don't, you can report them on the IRS main website.

Yes!!! I've been receiving these calls since yesterday. Not fun..
when one of the people I spoke to was not fluent in English and told me to F*** off.

My husband  received a vm from irs saying they are going to turn us over to the courthouse for not paying taxes.  This is a scam

They keep calling.  My answering machine announces that all calls are screened.  If the caller does not know me then I will not pick up.  But if I do know them please leave a message.
But this group will not give up.  So the phone rings and rings.  If they try my cell I just block their number.  Problem solved.  ;o)
