we got a call from 202-470-6070 and 202-760-2344 claiming to be IRS and sherif's department,name John Shumaker. He was trying to convince us to pay $2300.00

I just got a from the "CA Police Department" because a complaint has been filed against me by the IRS. I was told to call an Officer Tom O'Brien at (979)871-7189 - when I called the man answering the phone had a think Indian accent and demanded that I settle over the phone or the police were going to come to arrest me.  Very scary! but then he started to sound fishy when he refused to allow me to have my husband join the call.

Got a call today from (713) 489-2317 and a heavily accented man who claimed to be a "John Wilson" from the IRS (and gave number 6331H) said the sheriff had paperwork to serve today for an arrest because of deliberate withholding of $ and $ owed in the amount of $3060.  Said he needed cash to be sent to a Rite Aid within 30 minutes and that if the call was ended for even one minute, the deal was off.  He said only cash.  Because today was Martin Luther King Day, and no banks were open, he said he would take less.  It is such a scam.  Don't fall for it -- but he reads paragraphs from a "complaint" that tries to scare you:  claims you will be arrested, a lien will be placed on all your property, your employer will be notified and your paycheck taken, your passport seized, etc. etc. etc.  -- unless you get him cash through Rite Aid within 30 minutes.  Scam!!  

I also got the call from 202 number and a man sounds like an indian but trying to talk with an american accent saying the same story that I owe money to IRS if not paid now, police would come and arrest me.
I immediately figured it was a scam call and I asked him lot of silly questions that he cannot answer and hung up.
Not sure how they get our phone numbers.

IRS will never call anyone even if we really owe money to them. They send the letter first.

I got a call today 28th Feb 2014 and the caller ID showed as 911. A lady on other side with a thick accent pronounced my nam incorrectly and asked about my whereabouts. I told her before I give her any information I would need to verify her identity as I suspect this to be a fake call and she hung up.

Had the same issue today (03/11/2014). Someone with indian accent called me from this number: 202 241 4151. Suprisingly, I asked to called them back and they answered. He told me that a warrant was issued against me and I need to make a deal. I told him that I needed to check with the IRS first and get back to you, and it got him all worked up and started threatening that the police Is going to be at my door steps to hand cuffs me and take me straight to jail. When I insisted I needed to call to verify, he hung up still threatening.
I found out from the IRS website they use sophisticated programs to hack caller ID displays and call routing:

I got the same call too. Every other day from a different number. Threatening that he will see me on Monday, if i dont send the money.

I got the same phone calls from 202-241-0333

Officer Neil Fleming from American Financial Crime saying that there was going to be an affidavit for my arrest

I also got same call from this number yesterday: (206) 567-3255. I knew he was fake. I tried calling today and got the message that Magic Jack user wasn't available.

I got the same call from 202 area code, saying he is an officer, with very thick accent, I barely understand what he said. Good, now at least it is clear for me, not real IRS or Officer.

i got numerous calls but i never answered.  then today i got a 911 caller id and in confusion i answered and a heavy accent lady came on the phone and said she was hired from the attorney general and if i had 30 days to do ...  i never let her finished saying what she was going to say.  i hung up immediately and called our local police station to verify and report it.  they even called me at work too!

Got 3 calls today from 202 239 2560. They said they are from Criminal Investigation Dept.  Washington D.C. They said they are going to arrest me immediatly If I dont do as they say. When I started to further question them, they hung up.

They left a massage on home phone, I called the number to they left and an indian man with a thick accent answered as I started question I ng him, he srarted to get really frustrated. I told him that, I will be reporting him and to never call my house again..oh and he used the name max johnson

Got a call from 911 and my wife picked up the call.the person said he is from sheriff office and that I committed some federal crime this morning.Left a message with my wife asking me to call the number 202-470-6070.I googled for this number and it directed me to this site mentioning it is a fake call.

I got a call from this number from this John Shumaker. Before that I got a call from the Middelesex Country Sheriff Dept that I need to contact this guy. Since I was in a place I couldnt do any internet search I got scared and paid $ 500 through Greenpak government card. Looks like I am scammed and no way to get back this hard earned money.
The Sheriff Dept's call came from 911 and that is how I got conned. Be careful.

got a call today afternoon from some Officer James Conner - Fulton County Police Department - 734 678-9000. He said there is a federal complaint registered against me and I should call some number. I asked him his details once again and also asked why is called ID shows MI number if he is from Fulton County (Georgia). So he mentioned that we traced you from Michigan!!!! OMG I got so dam scared...noted down the number of officer Michael Black 202 678 1200. I immediately called my husband and he told me that this is fraud. But I didn't believe me and asked him to call this number....So my husband did it and while talking he was sure that this is fraud. After my husband hanged up, this guy called 3 times to me from 734 852 9985. Thank God my husband was aware of all fraud and scams!!!

My sister got the same exact "warrant for your arrest" call today. Only they asked for me. Obvious to me it was a scam. I never called back, and neither should any of you . If anything, if you are bored, string them along for a while. That is the only real way a non- enforcement type can disrupt the scam..minute by minute until they deem it not worth it to carry  on...

If you see the number 911, the call originated from India. The country code for India is 91 and some of the local are codes start with 1.  I wish somehow we could catch one of these scammers from India. I am Indian and it is a shame that these scamsters are are taking advantage of immigrant Indians and innocent folks. I do try my best to let all Indians know if they get these calls hang up. With the ability to assign yourself any number using the internet phones it is tough to catch these idiots. BTW, I did come across couple of innocent Indians that did part with $2700 and in one case almost $25K.

Crap. They woke me up this morning and I wasn't thinking straight because so many of my medications make me sleepy. Takes me 1 1/2 hours after my alarm (which had not gone off yet) to not be a zombie. Told person any complaints must be sent on writing by mail and gave my address.  Now that I'm not a zombie I Googled it and found this. Great. Yay for this medication of mine.
