It was indeed an Indian accent, and not an African or South Asian accent. Maybe he's faking it.  Moreover, that is NOT the point. The point is that this is a despicable example of the worst of humanity. After it was apparent that I was not going to comply with this idiot's demands, he said (and who gives a damn in what accent) that I was subject to jail time.  After I refer this scam the the US Attorney's office, he'll have plenty of time to practice better pronunciation while he's behind bars.

This is the second time I got a call from this number. The first they left a message saying I owed back taxes and they would be filing papers to have me arrested if I didn't call them back. This time I answered the phone. It was an automated message stating from the IRS and I owed taxes at which point I hung up. On another site to trace numbers, the number was registered to a John Anderson in Washington D.C. My tax guy said the IRS will never call you like this. It's a scam!

Don't call back. Of course it's a SCAM! So the people with the foreign accents with American names who were calling a few months ago have now resorted to a female computerized "robot" caller. However, the connection is so bad that I still can't understand what they're saying-- basically IRS… blah, blah, Don't disregard, blah, blah, Good bye and take care. Silly scammers. IGNORE!!!!

how do you stop this terrorist from calling every day?

Many calls from 202 506-8789.  I decided to pick it up.  It seem I was being threaten; therefore, I decided to call the number back X's 3.  Each time, it seem to have been answered, but there is no sound(s),  This third time I called back, it was answered but no sound, I placed it on hold.  I think I will call that number again and place it on hold again, and again, and again….

Just got the call, Officer Julie Smith, computerized call this time, sounded like what I would type into computer and have it read back to me. Of course after threatening with jail time and wanting me to get an attorney, the message did tell me to have a good day.  Claiming it was IRS but my research says the IRS does not make phone calls.

Received the same message on my voicemail. Knew it was a scam since we do not owe taxes and the IRS only contacts you via US registered mail.  What can be done to stop these people? I noticed a great letter template a few pages back but does it do any good to write to your Senator and Representative?

This number called left message they are from IRS, fraud I mam in the middle of filling Chpt 7 bankruptcy, IR is aware of this
these people are no good . Irs will create a paper trail , letters, certified mail etc. They do not call and say "you better call us back or else"  

Got a call from 1-202-506-8798 claiming to be IRS. Said to avoid prosecution I need to call back.

Guy keeps calling scam about IRS has a terrible mid eastern accent them he speaks in some other language gets real nasty
