- BEWARE| 5 repliesThis is a SCAM. The "IRS" left 2 voicemails, 202 and 646 area codes claiming back-taxes from 6 years ago. They claim to be the Internal Revenue Service and use extremely threatening language and tell you that you have 2 hours to transfer funds to them using a prepaid credit card- green dot or it will be transferred to an arrest warrant that will find you and take you to jail pending the court appearance... you even have the risk of spending 7-10 years in jail. What a joke- they even told me to go to walmart to get my prepaid credit card!!! LOL!!!
They have STRONG Indian accents and go by "common" American names like Kevin Brown, James Anderson, or Jacob Parker with associated badge numbers and a DC address which is not the address of the IRS. They were only able to supply my name and address- no other information even though they said they had a 32 page file on me. I just kept asking them the same exact questions over and over until they started to trip up and I called them out on it. DO NOT BE FOOLED with this OPERATION!!!! Looking back i can only laugh but I was not laughing at the time. It was quite scary and overwhelming.- Call type: Debt collector
- Ron replies to BEWARE| 2 repliesAgreed. This is a fraud call from IRS. An Indian guy called me and said his name was Dave Matthews. What Indian guy is named Dave Matthews, and who's gonna believe that. Not sure how these guys are getting this information but they would have been better off saying they worked for IRS with an Indian name.
Once I heard this call, I checked the internet for the number. This will explain more of what's going on:
Police reports: Fairfield woman almost scammed | Fairfield-Sun.com

2 days ago - According to police, the woman received a phone call from a man ... Police said Bob had called from 202-506-9026, but that number was no ... - DonnaThis is a scam. I got a voicemail on Saturday morning. The message was a little scary cuz my initial reaction was "am I in trouble with the IRS". The caller had a very heavy foreign accent. Couldn't understand every word. Identified himself as Robert C., a police officer from the IRS. He said something about my income tax calculation, and to return the call ASAP. I searched the internet and found that IRS phone scams are on the rise for 2014. Authorities, local newspapers, TV stations, magazines, and IRS are warning of "dirty dozen tax scams for 2014". Don't be fooled.

u know its a fraud - anonymousguy with strong indian/pakistani accent called my cell phone and left a very threatening message. his direct line was 202-506-9026, but showed up on my phone as 202-506-9010. I knew right away it was BS because i have a CPA that does my taxes multiple times a year for business reasons.. not only am i on top of my taxes but his name was "Agent Aquatoo" from the movie Zoolander I believe? furthermore, the IRS will not leave VM like that, they will contact via letters or email so that their actions are documented. when i called back from an office phone (didn't want him to have my number) this was the conversation:
him: Hi
Me: with whom am I speaking
him: Tony Parker
Me: who do you work for?
him: IRS
Me: I don't appreciate you leaving threatening messages on my voicemail
him: Please give me your number and I will send you a copy of all the information I have to you.
Me: I'm not releasing my number to anyone for any such reason, this is fraud.
him: Okay, thank you and have a fu$^@&* great day!
I wish I looked up the phone number on google before wasting my time.. if you read this, don't bother wasting your precious time!- Caller: Agent aquatoo from IRS

- Baramdai SharmaI got a call this week from this number 202-506-9026, a guy says he is from the IRS name Steve Matthew and that I was to return his call right away or action will be taken against me by the IRS. I decide to Google the number and found this site, thanks guys for letting people know that this is a scam. I was worried for a while but remember my dad got a similar call and he was really worried. - sfanonymousI just recieved a voice message from 202-506-9026. It said I owe IRS some back tax from2009 and 2010. And as the other people have reported, the guy had a heavy indian accent and I had hard time understanding him. I called back and noticed his language was threatning and something an IRS person would not use. So I googled 202-506-9026 while on the phone and found this site. At the end of the phone conversation, he said "I will make your day miserable like hell." This is so upsetting and it makes me so mad. I hope police will catch and put these guys behide the bars.

Call blocker is your best bet. - GBW| 2 repliesThis scam is still going on.
Please find them and put THEM in jail.
IRS certainly have their troubles right now.
These callers may be doing so at the request of an ex-IRS employee. (such as Lois Learner??)- Caller: 202-506-9026 phone number
- AlertO-Shill replies to GBWThe call is from a SCUMBAG in India. It is an attempt to extort money from you. The IRS does know bout these calls from many numbers but can not really do anything about it since it is not in the United States.
- RexIRS replies to GBWThis is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:
1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.
2) Help kill their phone lines. The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)
3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-cen ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). You can use the following template for your letter (more powerful!) or email:
https://800notes.com/forum/ta-a9526ebadc65cf9 ... 558497927242748 - Laura BullockI had a message to call Jean Smith at the IRS at 202-506-9026. An Indian man answered the phone and asked for my phone number which I gave to him. He asked for my name and I said that if was with the IRS and there were any questions that he would know my name. I asked him to notify me via U.S. mail if there were any problems. He hung up on me.
This is from the IRS' website:
If you receive a phone call from an individual claiming to be the IRS but you suspect they are not an IRS employee.
1.Ask for a call back number and employee badge number.
2.Contact the IRS to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you.
3.If you determine the person calling you is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you, call them back.- Caller: IRS
