Received an automated message from someone saying they are Julie Smith with the Internal Revenue Service.  

The tip off for me that this was a scam was when the recording said "take care". Yeah right- like the IRS would say that LOL!

Same number wanted my lawyers number told me I owed money to irs  from 2007-2012
I started to ask all kinds of question lady got all snotty and told me i will get documents in the mail by Friday lol stupid people need to start to find a real job

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I got this today 8/14/2014 at 9:50AM. some one have to stop it. why don't we call IRS and report it?

We got a call from the same Officer Julie Smith with the IRS yesterday.  Any calls of this sort can be reported to www.tigta.gov and to the FTC.gov.  We need to stop these scammers before any more unsuspecting individuals get suckered into giving up their credit card info.

Local police can't do much in this case because the scammers are located in India.

Computerized call claiming to be the IRS agent Julie Smith threatening legal action if not returned call immediately.  When you call the number back 202-506-9705 it goes immediately to a voicemail with a Russian accent.

So, I called them back (knowing it was a scam) Let them know this was Ignacio Takinashi, and how my dad was Japanese, and My mom was Hispanic, and How I could get them some weed, and maybe pay them what I owe them. I WANT them to call me back so I can check caller ID and answer "Internal Revenue Service, you are on a recorded line. How may I direct your call?"

I was called by this "Julie Smith" individual stating that she was with the internal revenue service and that she had an important message; when called back the individual sounded foreign and said"leave a message at tone."  This is obviously a scam folks; if you are familiar with the IRS, they do not notify you in this manner.  Everything is documented and very professional; not as this caller.  

Although NOT very consoling,I'm am glad to note that I'm not the only one to get this type of scamming. I reported the same exact phone message to the Conn. atty Gen. Also you may receive two legal looking letters from the IRS, stating that they need more time to determine how much money you owe and tell you that you can start sending them money towards relieving your arrears  (no amount specified) I reported it as above to my CT powers that be.   Joe

I have received 2 of the scam voicemails (8/16 and 8/19) from 202-506-9705, same as all the other posts in terms of the message. I am disregarding but hope that someone shuts them down asap!

received a call this am and a voice mail. It stated this is the office of Julie Smith IRS. 202-506-9759 Dont regard this message and do return berfore we take any legal action against you. Goodbye and take care.

Yeah they called me and told me they had a case number against me that i owed 8,120.00.....Called the IRS. Don't owe a dime. Chris Martin called and said I owed the government.....Another SCAM.
