- Jill Houston| 7 repliesThis number called claiming to be the IRS. They asked for my son, using a name that is not in any way associated with a social security number. I asked if this name was listed as a taxpayer, he responded that it was. Impossible, as the IRS has my son's legal name on record, not the pseudonym (nickname) that they asked for.

- KenThis is a scammer. Be careful !!!
I received a message from this number and called back this number. The man asked me if I have a lawyer to handle my case. I said I had no idea of what he was talking about. The man said I was under the 3 criminal charges against the back taxes due for the tax year of 2008 and 2009. I said I have never received such notices. He said Ms. Lisa White has tried to deliver the notice 4 times on Jan 4, Feb 13, 14 and Mar 24, but no one was home. Now, IRS is taking seriously and someone will come to my home today to arrest me. Once arrested, the court will not accept bail for 90 days.
I said I would call back after I talked to attorney, then the line was disconnected. - KUSA replies to Jill Houston| 1 replyThis is a Scammer. I received message and called back as the message said I owed back tax to IRS. The man answered and explained 3 criminal charges, but never asked my SSN. I said I'd call back and he cut the line.
- Lori| 3 repliesI got the call on my home phone and my daughter on her cell. I called back to have the same man (hard to understand) tell me I had 3 criminal charges pending against me for tax evation from 2011-2012 and I owed $3683.43. I asked several questions and as he was nice in the beginning he turned mean real quick and said are you disputing these charges as to which I said YES he then said I am adding a 4th charge of money laundering to you and the DMV will suspend your license in 24 hrs and the police will be by to cease your property as well as arrest you and you will serve a min of 90 days in jail so I hung up on him.

- Badge714 replies to LoriFirst off the IRS does not call you, unless you have called them first. They use US Mail. Next - what about this novel American idea called 'due process'? How can all these things happen to you without a court date, Judge, & and a judgement? They can't. These things only are true in the minds of foreign 3rd world extortionist scammers, because that's who called you.
- rex replies to LoriThis a Pakistan based IRS scam. Do not fall for this. read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm
Also report it to your local law enforcment agency. The scammers use magicjack (YCom corporation) voice over IP lines. This is against their terms of use and can lead to termination. However law enforcement has to initiate the contact with Ymax. If you are really annoyed: Call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams are ongoing all over the country, maybe this will trigger a reaction.... - RanToday I received an automated voice mail from this number- this is the 3rd message in two days (from 3 different numbers). All the messages told me I am being charged with tax fraud and will be arrested. Two of the messages were automated, one was a person with an Indian accent. I reported the second call and I reregistered my number on the Do Not Call Registry.

- MRGot a call at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 20 at San Antonio, TX residence. Obvious robotic message from woman named "Heather" (gave a last name but did not catch it) with "The IRS" regarding "tax discrepancy" and need to call back the number. Cut off the call because it was some kind of obvious scam. One, no reason for the IRS to be contacting me and two, the IRS does not operate this way. I would certainly assume there has to be some kind of criminal intent.

- RN| 1 replyGot 2 calls from this number. A foreign man asked for my husband (pronounced his easy-American-name incorrectly). I probed as to why and was told it was about his 2006-2009 taxes. I laughed and told him that wasn't how the US Government operates. He immediately asked if I thought the call was a scam. I replied yes. He hung up on me after telling me he "didn't have time for me"! I googled the number and found this definitely is a scam.

The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone. The scammers use voice over IP lines (e.g. magicjack (Ymax corporation)). This is always against these companys' terms of use and can lead to termination of their contract. However only law enforcement can initiate the contact if you yourself are not a customer. Therefore, report it also to your local law enforcement agency. Ultimately this is a case for the FBI legal attache in Islamabad or New Delhi. If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction (and the NSA can finally be a force for good).

Dear Senator/Representative XXX
As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to demand decisive action from the FBI, the IRS and other federal agencies against organized crime directed against American citizens from abroad.
As widely reported by local and national media all across the United States and warned about by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (see http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm) a tidal wave of fraud using Internet phones has hit the United States. Millions of dollars already have been stolen by criminals impersonating federal officers while hiding in countries like India and Pakistan, where most of the calls originate. There seems to be no end of it in sight.
I have personally been targeted by these scammers but it is the most vulnerable among us that I am concerned about primarily. The scheme is specifically singling out those that can least defend themselves against these crimes, in particular the elderly. I am also worried that given the origin of these gangsters, the money stolen from US citizens may be used for financing of terrorism or other activities directed against the national interests of the United States. But in spite of this clear and present danger to our country and its citizens I have seen no action worth mentioning by the FBI, the IRS or other federal agencies so far.
As a member of Congress overseeing the law enforcement agencies tasked with fighting fraud and ensuring national security, I implore you to make sure that they act on these threats and are given all the necessary resources to target these criminals in cooperation with foreign law enforcement.
Yours sincerely - Mary replies to Jill HoustonThey just called my friend today July 29, pretended that they were the IRS. Said that if she didn't give them money they would arrest her and asked for almost $3000 in cash, asked to meet her in front if a store to give them the money. They told her that she couldn't pay via check or credit card.
How do these people sleep at night? It's upsetting to think that they could even do this to extremely vulnerable people who may be extremely gullible (like little old grannies or grandpas!) They should look themselves in the mirror and be disgusted by themselves for being so evidently malicious. They should be arrested. It's just not right. - IRS scam artist sc umbag losers suckAn Indian woman named Heather from the IRS called my home twice today. My teenage son relayed the message was a scam. I politely returned the call to see if it was an automated system. The voicemail is obviously overseas. I politely reminded them in a not so polite way what they are doing us illegal and they needed a life instead of trying to cheat decent people out if money. And I did report them.

- AnnoyedThis number 2025069841 called my cell phone three times in the past 2 days and left a voicemail. I finally answered. It sounded like an Indian man claiming to be Officer Jack Wilson with the IRS looking for my mother. I said it was wrong number they asked if I had any contact with her I only told her I was her daughter (no other information) and asked how they got my number. They told me to pass the message on to her and said they got the number from criminal activity records concerning her income tax (why would they have my number for that???). He gave me what I assume to be a fake case file number and the contact info for the officer handling the case. I told him if this is a scam they are going to get in trouble. He assured me it is not a scam and that is why he gave me a case number. The area code for the call is supposedly Washington, DC. A friend who used to work for the IRS told us that it is a scam and that the IRS will only contact by mail or in person as police. Something definitely needs to be done about these people.

- furiousPotty mouth little indian guy cursed me out when I politely told him I knew he did not work for the IRS. He asked me if I was a hooker and what my profession was and if I put my clients c**** in my mouth. I explained to him he was low life scum and unlike him some people are educated and don't have to resort to degrading themselves into trying to defraud people. I told him the IRS does not make house calls, nor do they ask people to put the male anatomy in their mouths. Of course he then proceeded to use more profanity asking me then telling me I was going to make me perform sex acts on him. By this point I told him he was nothing more than a tiny little prick hiding behind a computer hiding his location trying to steal money from people talking about [***] because he's probably suffering from micropenis or either inverted. Get a life dumbass.
