Call from an automated machine stating they were with the irs.

when they gave me a # to call, someone answered & promptly hung up

I got the same thing

I received a call saying that it was the IRS and that my attorney or i better call or they would take action against us. To ask for Sharon Brown. I gave the number to my husband and he called, they answered saying this is the IRS. My husband asked for Sharon Brown and they immediately asked him if he was Windy, thats my name. Hcalledbae said no and they hung up on him. We calledba,k repeatly and they kept hanging up on us. The phone number we called was 202-506-9841

Have gotten two calls from this number, and today they finally left a message. The message stated that it was Officer Julie Smith with the Internal Revenue Service and could be reached at this number and to not disregard this message. It's a shame that people can't get a real job and have to try to scam money for a living!! I'm sick and tired of getting these ridiculous, harassing  phone calls!!

Beware. Fake irs ppl. Telling me to I owe taxes and that I will be imprisoned..  I owe 4889 and I will have to make the paymenr or I will owe 27k etc.  Beware do not trust these fools. Irs will always mail not phone.

I got a call on my cell from those people.  IRS... Scammers...

The same thing happened this morning to us. Thank God for the internet. I looked up this number and saw all the other posts. Thanks to the others for posting your experience with the idiot that's trying to scam people out of money.

caller claimed to be irs...its sat at 230 pm..this is the third time this week..this is a major scam..be aware..irs contacts thru mail not phone calls

We are getting a bunch of calls from this number.  We have called back and no answer.  Anyone know how to stop them from calling.

Just wanted to let everyone know these people are STILL doing this. I was freaked out initially, called back, took 4 times to get through, advised that I didn't know what I owed, and they stated the police will be showing up to my house. WOW, ridiculous.

These scammers are getting more savvy. I've been getting calls from the "IRS" from someone with a thick accent from India or some such country so while I toy with them on the phone, I looked up their number online and it's pointing to some residential neighborhood in WA, DC and not to anything IRS related. I believe they are using some sort of international network of establishing a home-base number in DC so it looks legit while dialing in from India or Pakistan so that caller ID only picks up the DC-based number. Thing is, I just got called again and instead of a real person, they're using a robocall voice with a robotic American female voice so it almost sounds legit to people who might be more gullible. Don't be so fooled. I just love the block number feature on my iPhone!

I got 3 calls from this number this morning start at 8:30. This is unknown number so I didn't answer it. They didn't leave any message. I then google the number and so glad I did.
