The number has been calling my mobile, sometimes a woman, sometimes a man, they have messages stating that I am big trouble with the IRS and that would loose my property unless I contact them and leave 202-559-7879

These are scammers preying on unspecpting people that think they are in trouble with the IRS. The IRS would notify you by mail first to clear up any discrepancies. What a bunch of idiots.

Gave no name. Recording said my household is under investigation from the IRS, and it is very important that I call back as soon as possible. Then a pleasant " Thank you"  Scared me to death !! It's not right to do that to ppl !!

Do not answer unknown #'s ever - CID said Out Of Area and hungup before answer machine so no message left - Go figure ..

Got a message in my landline stating something like: "you and your physical property are under investigation by the IRS and it's very important I do hear back from you as quick as possible before we proceed further with any legal prosecution...". What a ridiculous scam. The IRS would not send recorded messages. And if you were under investigation, authorities would not alert you of their findings ahead of prosecuting you. Moreover, any audit from the IRS is notified via a written notification. These scammers are scum.

prerecorded phone message ( female voice )..that my family and i are under investigation and the irs will take action unless i call back....i have no family... and i owe nothing to the irs...i am living on social security this is a SCAM......

same as indicated above.  Apparently, myself and my physical property are under investigation by the IRS...need to call back etc.  I think this is the next iteration of scam calls to avoid the do not call directory rules, leave a message, have someone call back and then their phone number goes on the "suckers" list.  by all means do not call them back!

Have had multiple calls telling me they are from the "crime investigation unit of the Internal Revenue Service."  They tell me that the IRS has issued an arrest warrant against me and that my physical property is under a state of investigation . . . and I should call back immediately

I actually answered the call and they called me back twice. Why doesnt someone like the FBI do something about this [***]

I received the exact same message as everyone else.  I find it sad that many people may fall for this.

Because most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. We have no jurisdiction in those country's.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
