Can someone let me know if it's real or a scam?!

Someone from this number called me once yesterday and five times today. I've been ignoring the calls and decided to call it back only to find out that the number had been disconnected. They called again just now, and I answered. "Helloa. Maya Ia speaka toa Esteven?" When he identified himself, his accent was so thick that I could not make out his name or most of what he said other than "U.S. government", "federal grant", "money you don't have to pay back." I am not stupid. I didn't ask any questions. Instead, I just said, "No, thank you" to which he responded, "Why no thank you?" (again with the accent and bad English). So I hung up. If you work for the U.S. government, you speak English motherFKer.

i've been getting a call from this number once in a while for a couple of months but could never hear the person and would get disconnected. finally today i spoke with the person, same script except it's only $8,000. i asked to get it in writing since they have my contact information and he said we can only accept it by phone. i asked to be removed from the call list and i am passing on the offer. he just said thank you and hung up.

I received a call from this number. They said I qualified for a $8500 grant. I'm sorry I smell [***]. I want to get these calls to stop. I gave them nothing.

is this the same Brian Shine i coached a season of cybl with a few years ago back in Natomas, and our sons were on the same team?

I live in AL and was just called with the exact line.  I was told I could use a "pre-paid" card when I refused to give any banking info.  I did not catch the name of the individual, but she identified this money was coming from the US Treasury.  I just laughed.  Said the US Treasury doesn't have enough money to pay our national debt...how do you think they have a few grand for me?!?  Crazy scam.

My husband just took a call.  told the guy with a thick accent he knows this is a scam and when he was hanging up the guy called him an a**h***.  niiice.  Reading some of the comments before this one.  Please people!!!  you can't get something for nothing.  please don't pass out any financial OR personal information about yourself!!!

I just received a call fm this number.  The caller used my first name, however, his accent was so thick I could not understand anything else he said except "federal US government."  I hung up.  I hate, hate, hate scam calls!

PLEASE  NOTE !!!   THESE  SCAMMERS  ARE ALSO IMPERSONATING   THE  US  GOV'T /  SEVERAL  GOV'T  OFFICES AND   PERSONS....BEWARE !!!

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS  /  FAKE  LAW  FIRMS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

several  of  these are  the  usual   long  ongoing  scams   such  as  :  you  have  won a  free  walmart /  bestbuy  gift  card....or  you  have  won a  free  ipad  etc......all  long  ongoing  scams............

Caller: 202 area  code  scams / fake calls /  bogus  calls etc.

This # has called me on several times. I've tried calling the # back but only get a recording saying that it was an invalid #.  Today, 9/10/13 I spoke to some guy who called me by my first name and after that I couldnt understand a word he said.  I fustrated him so bad that he hung up on me. If he calls me again I'm going to record it and tell him I'm reporting him to the police. It seems to me this guy prys on women. I hope nobody falls for his scam.

I just called and got a busy signal. Who ever this is called 3 times with no message left. Just don't answer this number if it was important they would leave a message.

I keep getting calls from this 202-621-0743 number the first time The Lady called she had what sounded to me like a Chinese accent, told me my name & number was picked for a Grant I don't even recall how much the grant was for, to be honest. Started asking me personal questions what I would use the grant for whether I was married or single, and my address, and she hung up, which after that I got very suspicious, and looked up The number and seen it was reported to be a Scam, I've had problems with my phone for a while I actually think somehow they have been listening to my conversations and redirecting or reading my messages to get any personal info they can. My phone convos are scrambled think it can't happen well I didn't either but I changed my number yesterday and guess what, they called this morning. How? Somebody needs to put a stop to this, this isn't harmless, these people can steal our identity use our tax info if Ur not using it. Its endless. Stop Them!
