I just got the same phone call from 202 684 3502. Scam

I should say the message said to call 202 684 3502. It wasn't from that number.

First off anyone who has go a call like this don't worry these silly scammers try to scare people up relax. The IRS won't call you out of the blue like this. that’s not their M.O.

You can call the real IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to check for yourself if you owe anything and report the scam to them.  Just tell them you got a call with someone claiming to be the IRS.

Also report it to the TIGTA (Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration ) at 1-800-366-4484.  
I encourage you to please check and verify these numbers yourself don’t take my word for it. Their seems to be shills on the loose.

I just received a call from them 20 minutes ago. I just laugh and hung up. 100% SCAM!! The IRS will contact you thru the U.S. Postal Service. And if you're going to be sued it would be a certified letter send to you.  

I'm a CPA and believe me the IRS does NOT call your home.  They will certify mail you or fax you (after you've had phone contact....where you've called them), but they will not call you.  I can't tell you the list of phone numbers these scammers have left on my machine to call them back at.  Different names, numbers, accents.  I'm confused why he said EFTPS bc that is a real thing, but they might set up the payment info so it goes directly to them and not US Treasury.  Middle East guy probably didn't think someone would actually say...let me pay you so he panicked.  Report the info to the FTC.

Contact the FTC with all the info you have.  There seem to be multiple numbers, names, voices, etc.  Losers.  One left a message saying they were from the Internal Revenue ServiceS.  It's Service.  And the IRS doesn't sue...they garnish.

IRS Scam telephone call- 202-684-3502

They left a message on my answering machine saying the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me and to call 202-684-3502. The call came from either 895-093-8944 or 855-876-5380. I do not answer my phone because of all the calls I get from unknown caller or unknown name unless the caller is someone I know. My name & number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST.

Susie, these people are calling from another country and probably don't even know about the Do Not Call Registry. They are frauds. Do not answer their calls and do not give them any money. Read over the various posts and see what is happening. There is a lot of great advice on this site for how to proceed. Good luck!

I just received a today.  I talked a so call agent as well. Yes, the agent had me and my husband's name and address.  He stated, 3500 dollars owe from an 2008 thru 2013.  I questioned the amount and information to be mailed that will show evidence of owing. The agent studded or could not get the information out of his mouth. He tried to give me options.  I have stated to the agent that i know the call is being recorded and asked for a supervisor and manager.  The agent hung up . The real IRS does not make calls. My taxes are in order.  2026843502 is a SCAM. Go to IRS.GOV FOR SCAM NEWS.

Do not let it get the best of you because you the right thing to report a scam.

this number called and said it was IRS and that they were suing me to call immediately.

The Do Not Call List law is a list of phone numbers where the owner does not want telemarketing calls and a law making it illegal to make telemarketing calls to those numbers.  For a scammer its one more law to break.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

just received automated call saying IRS filing lawsuit.  When i called back i got voicemail for a Carl (didn't get last name)

I received a call today at 1:30 pm from this number it was an automated message, stating that it is IRS calling and the call is the final notice re: law suit the IRS is taking against me

This is the information I found and the complaint that I filed with DoNotCall.

This person left a message on my answering machine. It sounds like a computer-generated message. It states:
We have been trying to reach you. Consider this a final notice from the IRS...Internal Revenue Service. The reason for the call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To find out more about this complaint call 202-684-3502.
I have never received any previous calls like this from this number. When i looked the number up online I found the following information:

I was immediately suspicious.When I googled the call-back number...202-684-3502...I found that I am not alone in receiving these calls.I hope this information helps to find these perpetrators.

Got a call from 845-793-8844 saying the IRS was suing me and to call 202-793-8844.  Knew it was a scam so I didn't return the call.

Crap.  I meant to say they wanted me to call 202-684-3502. Sorry for the confusion.
